You can't?
It isn't a naughty breakfast pic at least. Whew.
It's the Red X of DoooOOOOoooOOOooommmm....
[they really won't turn off]
Well... like lots of things, it depends who you ask, for their own spin.
The short version is that RIM (research in motion) sold millions of the "Blackberry" devices, and NTP (network technology partners) has sued them for patent infringement, the patent having (I think) to do with the way the blackberry server system communicates with the devices.
But in my opinion... NTP are just lousy bottom-feeders. They produce nothing, make nothing. They are a "patent holding company". All they do is go around buying up papers and ideas of other people, digging through looking for something patentable, then wait around hoping for the big score when somebody starts to make money with the idea... they are a company that files lawsuits *for a living*. That's all they do.
IMHO, that's not what patent law exists for.
But the punch line is that they may have jumped a little too soon. NTP sued over five patents, and the patent office has "preliminary" findings now that all five are "refused". They have "final" findings on one of them that is also "refused", and are still doing final review of the remaining four.
A year or more ago... RIM agreed to settle with NTP for something like $350M. That was a lot of money. But NTP pulled out at the last second and held out for $1B+.
RIM told them to stuff it... and went to court.
The judge still seems to think they should be settling out of court even now. I don't actually understand why... because if as it seems to be happening that NTP's patents will all be denied... then they get a big fat nuthin.
Which is what bottom-feeders deserve. Plus legal costs.
Can you take the batteries out?
Wrap them in tinfoil?
I don't see how the batteries come out... I stuck them on the charger... - still vibrating.
*laughing*
Sorry 'bout that, chica.
Have you changed the channels to see if that makes it stop?
Really weird... they stopped vibrating a minute or so after I put them on the charger.
Vibrating alert to ~what~ I wonder!
Changed channels, turned it off, pushed every button on it!
Ah! That's an image I was searching for!!
Maybe they were a "low-battery warning" vibration.
They're possessed.
Possible! Nothing else makes sense... Seems if it was a low battery, then turning it off should stop it. Maybe you aren't near the charger and it seems like it would just drain the battery faster to vibrate.
That was probably the weather-radio alert. There should be a button or channel for NWS updates.
Indeed. ;~D
We've been using them as a good way to talk back and forth with Rosie when she's over at HerNewPlace. They should work good for that! Less formal than a phone call.
This morning though, Rosie heard "THE F'IN STRUCK WON'T START!" out of nowhere... that was funny ;~D
Doesn't look like there's any active weather advisories, though...
