New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |

Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Unhappy squirrel... up above...
"Look how high I am!"
Hmmm... now how do I... hmmm....
Good info - thanks!
If I keep it in a good sunny spot and make sure it stays wet...do you think I'll be able to use some of it by later in the year?
Ruh-roh!
I could hear unhappy squirrels while I was laying out the tarp. Not sure if it was due to the kittens or due to me wavin' a big flappy scary monster around.
I was thinkin' if you felt like shoveling, you could get some loads of poo to spread thick and then put the tarp over that... it'll sit hand help cook the grass faster.... seriously! I'll give you a barrow and a pitchfork!
Hm...well, if that'd do it...maybe I should. And it'd kinda compost in place, no?
What happens to the dead grass when you rototill? Does it get mixed in?
If it rots well enough you can just till it in. You might end up with some big clumps of root and sod you'll just pull out.
If you use pure manure, spread out on the grass, it'll just kind of cook the grass under it, especially with the tarp over it, fresh manure is really hot.
Then in a month, till it in...
BTW, there's a Scotch Broom (or whatever they're called) right in the middle of where I want my plot. I cut part of it off, mashed the rest of it down and put the tarp over it. Am I being overly optimistic to dream that'll kill it enough to make it possible to pull the root out?
I guess I'll come over and get some. If I'm gonna do it, I gotta do it now, before it gets dark.
Means moving the tarps again, durn it. But if it'll speed things up...and help my garden...I should do it.
No - not too optimistic, it'll die. If you cut the mature plants off at the ground, they don't come back.
You must be loving your garden! I'm jealous, I would love to have some flowers going this year. Oh well, I have enough to do, I guess...
Hmmm, swishy skirt and bouncy music. My feet won't stay still.
Okay - you can have as much poo as you want :~D
I think right now, she's just loving the ~idea~ of her garden ;~D
Our theology lesson for today.
If you're having lunch at a Chinese buffet and you realize that the tune you're hearing on the Muzak is "We Are the World" you can take that as a definitive sign that the end times are upon us.
After a while, the worms show up on their own.
Speak for yourself, I think we have another six years according the the Ancient Mayan End-O'-Things Calendar. I heard about it on Coast to Coast radio the other night.
Yes! You can always just poke holes through it with a long stick or something. I think they have compost pile aerators than you can use if you want to spend the money. I've got one of those plastic bins that you can take apart. Once in a while, I'll just take it apart, re-assemble it, and shovel the stuff back in.
Uh oh! Hope The Monsters don't get stuck in a tree!
Probably
Heh, we had Chinese tonight also; the place we like usually has Chinese type music in the background, tonight was Kitaro; quite pleasant, his 'Silk Road' album IRRC.
Great Kitty pics - they do grow up fast, climbing trees, enjoying wildife viewing. I trust kitty got down without resorting to the services of the Volunteer Fire Department.
