Friday and Saturday we went to an airplane auction. My Dad bid on a 78 "project" but let it go because they sold the engine separately and he didn't know how high it would go. I watched planes all day. It was facinating. Kind of like horses. All shapes, sizes and types. Some seemed slow, like they would never get up and others had umppp. The most interesting, was watching helicopters re-certify. They would make a short turn, cut the throttle and dive I can enjoy watching eagles soar without wanting to be on their wings but ... I mentioned I wouldn't mind learning to fly before I get too old. My Dad said "How about today. The sky is blue and it's a beautiful day" "Scuse me?" The next thing I knew , we were at the school. The instructor was out though. I told him I would take an introductory lesson here, only if he comes and watch. In a few weeks, he's coming down, and we are going to "do" lunch (just got back from LA , Dude). Pics to follow.

A plane had to shut one engine down. He made an uneventful landing but it got exciting at the airport for a few minutes.

Yall ever wonder what is between Yuma Arizona and El Centro, Calif? NOTHING!. The van starting running hot about dark. My Dad checked and he had no water. We had to call a wrecker. He really just wanted to get to water instead of being towed. We had half a gallon of dog water left. A young man followed, no, lead us to a store in the middle of nowhere called Gorden's Well. Sounds Biblical, huh? Anyway, if you ever need rode assistance in that area, remember Jimbo out of Yuma. The service goes beyond routine. We stopped and spent the night in El Centro but had lost about 2 more gallons of water overnight. While we were waiting for road service my Dad really wanted to be p/o but I had him laughing, while we waited. You can't get down on a vacation.

This is in La Mesa, Calif where I reported in. My son and DIL and two new grandsons. Jonas, the oldest and Ethan, the little one. We were making cookies. They preferred them raw though. We spent Sun here.

They are high on a hill. This is the view from their patio. There is a cross on top of that hill. It glows at night. I thought Calif would be warm. I'm glad I brought my coat because it was raining and cold.

To be continued. I need to go spend some time with hubby.

Oh those things! When I was little we used to call them "Monkey Farts" because of the sound that they made when you smooshed them.

Monday, we spent time with my Aunt and got a new water pump. Tues went went to Apple Valley to see more family and headed to Vegas. I won about 300 dollars and donated 37 back for charity. I figured I wasn't going to win the jackpot but didn't mind helping someone else do it. My Dad took me to a candy factory. A very expensive candy factory. It was ok, watching them . Actually, it kind of reminded me of Willie Wanka:') Anyway, it's in an industrial park but they have a cactus garden on about an acre. It's so unusual and pretty. I would like to go back and spend time looking at all the plants when I have more time. Pics to follow.
