The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I scrubbed it with betadine and put some nitrofurisone on it. Didn't bother her. Tomorrow I'm gonna put some fungal cream on it too. I was just wondering if she might have gone up against tree bark or a shrub. She's got two gashes so I know she's been fighting. If it was a dermatitis I would thing her coat would be bad in other places but she looks good.

Well, I just thought of something, the times I've seen rain rot it has thick crusty scabs on it. Sounds like she could be rubbing it on something.

It's in an awfully strange spot for rain rot... usually get that under the mane or in the gutter of their back or top of the tail, where they stay damp.

It's weird. Doesn't even look like a normal rub.

I was sitting on the picnic table playing with my new knife and thought I would take a picture of her noticing the mini. A second later, I almost ate the camera. I really though she was going to shy into the table but she stopped and looked at them and me. Then she started running off. Darn. You know what that means........

She wasn't going anywhere. It means I had to make her go back. Things were good until the little black stud tried to give her some lip lock. I've never seen a "you have got to be kidding" look on a horse before.

See the bottle in 6166? That's got broken up apple bars in it. At first she didn't like me shaking it but watches it like a hawk now. She knows what's in there but do you think she can smell thru the plastic?

Well ... I must confess, yes, I am putting off Jack for a game. But it isn't just a game. It is game 7 and the series is tied 3-3. And, the Mavs (and us fans) really really really want to win this series, especially beating the Spurs IN San Antonio IN Game 7 and put them out of the playoffs. It took overtime, but WE DID IT! Mavs won and go on to face the winner of Game 7 between the Suns and the Clippers.

Besides, I got to skip all the commercials during 24! What an awesome season they had. But, Jack is on a slow boat to China now.

I don't think she can smell through plastic but if you have opened it and given her a piece of apple bar then she knows where they come from and is waiting for it to open again. :) Probably.
