The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

That is just how she is. Gotta love her no matter how much drama she comes up with. I asked her who else she called Saturday. It was a few people. She just needed an excuse to make the call and talk is all.

What about the curb chain? Do you take that off too, when you switch to halter mode?

The curb chain is attached to the bit, so it would come off too.

The curb chain is hooked to the bit. It would come off with the bit.

Here's Frog's again...

It shows the snap where you unhook the bit on both sides and drop it out. To put it back on you'd have to get her to open and then snap it on each side.

I use to have one like the one in Frogs picture.

At first, it is a bit harder, at least it was for me, to get the bit in the horses mouth. I finally learned to hook one side, then kind of angle it in going from the hooked side to the other then clipping it. Does that make sense. It took some practice. But the horse will catch on after awhile too.

24 is just starting...well start watching in about 20 minutes.

Well, I'm going to get one. If I don't like it, I'll use it for a halter.

Why did you change back?

Did you see the thread where those cops got shot in VA? Some guy in trouble over there. Evidently he is next door, in lock door and worried that he's gonna miss "24" :')

I'd agree I'd feel a little clumsy trying to get the bit in and out smoothly the first time :~) You don't want to drop it and clank their teeth.

Man - talk about a ride. I'm glad to hear Shirley's going to be okay, that had to have been hard on everyone.
