The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

~sigh~ Why do I do this to myself? :-/

That mustang mare is still available. The owner posted an update yesterday saying how she needed to sell her quickly.

I am not sure what has caused my problem. I was just looking at email one day and my computer froze up. It then said that it had to end the program because of some kind of error, so I hit "End Program". Then it said that it could not find the connection. I rebooted, but that didn't help either. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the broadcom wireless feature, then I got Norton Internet Security, each one helped keep my computer online for 5 to 10 minutes longer. A computer guy at work wondered about my firewall. I didn't know that those wireless modums are a firewall in itself and sometimes they don't react well with a firewall downloaded on the computer. I am going to turn off mine and see what happens. I am on my schoo computer, so that is why I can get online at all.

Sadly, no. I'm not even close to being ready for a horse yet.

But if I was, she'd be my choice - so long as a vet checked her out and gave her the OK.

I hope she gets a very good home though. ~sigh~

She sure is a nice looking mare, and I love her face markings. 'Course, getting a horse is a symptom of an incurable disease - you just keep getting more and more of them - and stuff for them. :)

I wish you luck with your computer. Hope that turning off the firewall works, I know how frustrating it is to have your computer keep disconnecting from the net - and not being able to figure out why.

What a beautiful place!

Okay all you horse-thread people, I need some advice.

I am not only looking for a horse but now a pickup.

My 92 chevvy blew up on the road. for the last time.

I am thinking about an '04 or '05, need to haul a big four-horse trailer, and keep me and my animals safe.

Any advice?

Steel or aluminum trailer? Gooseneck or pull type? Whatever don't get anything less than a 3/4 ton. Even with an aluminum, if you are hauling 4 horses, that's a pretty big load. Me, personally would get a ton truck. Dually preferred. Good luck, they cost a lot of money!

My vote would be for a Dodge but nothing newer than an '02. 2002 was the last work truck Dodge built.

I'd also consider a diesel rather than gas. They run forever.

A lot of Winter Texans trade and go home in new trucks and campers. Check out the RV places. They sometimes have some good package prices but will sell the trucks by themselves.

Our diesel is good for traveling but I hate driving it around town and parking. I just wish it had a bigger 2nd seat and a 3rd door. It's paid for though:')

I really don't either but I live to close to the event to not get out of it. She tells me about it every day.
