The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I probably wouldn't have forced them that close together with ecurbh on her, except I think in the water, they're more worried about footing and she wasn't gonna be as quick to spin and back into me :~D

It's a trial when I ride with her and Tiff's kid is on her, because he's like 10, and doesn't think.

Hello.

Several things.

hair anyone who allows their horse to ride up a horses butt deserves to be kicked.

It's funny how horses will do that sometimes, not like each other like Kat with Bay. She's a nice looking horse:). I hope I do better the the 10 year old kid:)

Frog, glad to hear your saddle turned out so well. I guess my saddle maker is like the one your canceling:(. Mine won't be ready for 2 more weeks.....I just about lost my temper in the shop and not because they were going to be late with it but because the girl that was helping me tried to brush me off to wait on someone else. Hell, they haven't even started it yet....When she came out and told me that, she just said it like it's going to be 2 weeks then looked past me to the man that had come in while she was in back checking on mine. I had planned on giving them an extra week, that's just the way these things work and you might as well deal with it instead of raising your blood pressure. But one the guy that came in after me, tried to step in front of me, 2 the girl was going to let him. I was trying to find out what was going on and she kept giving me very short answers, then would start talking to the guy behind me. It wasn't till I told her I planned on giving her some money today, that I finally got her attention, THEN she acted like I was pissing her off when I asked her several times "Do you guarantee it will be ready in 2 weeks." She answered like Yeah, that's what I've said several times, then I said , Look you and Stanley told me 3 weeks. 3 Weeks is tomorrow and you haven't even started it yet. I'm sorry but I need something definite, and I'd rather hear it's going to be longer then come back in 2 weeks and it still not be ready. I need it in 2 weeks, that's it.

When we walked out of there, Jenny said boy that girl needs to work on her PR skills.

I'm going back in there next week, or even maybe Sat, to make sure they are on track. And I plan on telling him about his pissy attitude girl and I would be nice about the whole thing if she hadn't of acted like she did, but now I WANT that saddle in 2 weeks, no excuses.

(LOL, but what can I do if it's not ready, go somewhere else, and start compelety over. Why is everything such a battle on stuff like this.

Becky

Yeah, she was nice as pie 3 weeks ago when I was in there. She must be PMSing today or something. When we walked in just looking at her you could tell she was not in a helpful mood:)

Like I said, I figured it would be late. This kind of stuff always is. The story I finally got was, the guy that works for them on these type of saddles (just there stock saddles) makes them from his home. He comes in gets a batch goes home makes them brings them back then picks up the next batch. He just came in today and got mine. It takes him a week to get it together, then it will be week in the shop being oiled and the stirrups set.

She said, and this is what gave me pause and why I was trying to question her that "they never know when he's coming in" Makes me think it might be longer then a week for him to have it. But when i questioned her about that comment she got pissy and was like I said a week. I said well you also said you don't know when he's coming in. I need to know.

Anyway. I'll give them this, but I'm not going to worry about being a nag about it after the way she acted. I may go back tomorrow and talk to Stanley.

I was a little concerned myself. Trying to control the reins and the camera and keep Bob moving was a bit interesting. I was afraid that if he stood there too long that the saddle would start to slip down over his head since I didn't have a crupper on him this time. That trail ordinarily doesn't require one because no one section is that steep for that long....unless you stand there with your butt in the air for too long. ;o)

Thanks.

I'm not quick on my feet in situations like that. I just kind of stand there with my mouth hanging open, surprised that people act like that. That jerk that came in behind me....you'd have thought he was the only one in the whole place and everyone was there to serve him. I mean he was astounding...and nothing makes me madder then for it to be my turn and have someone interrupt and for the person waiting on me forget about me and start helping them. It seems that happens all the time, especially in grocery stores. I got caught off guard, I should have just told the guy to shut up and wait his turn.

When she came out and told me that, she just said it like it's going to be 2 weeks then looked past me to the man that had come in...

"It'll be 2 weeks....Bub-bye"...like it or lump it
~>:o|

People like that really burn my @$$! But you're in the same position I was in with the Amish guy. You're only recourse is to cut off your nose to spite your face.

Yeah, she was nice as pie 3 weeks ago when I was in there...

She was trying to reel you in 3 weeks ago. You were a hooked fish today.

..."they never know when he's coming in" ...

People who work from home typically aren't real concerned about the clock or the calendar, and sometimes not real concerned about money either. You just gotta roll with it or take your money and go home. Not a fun choice when you want something worse than they want to sell it.

If it wasn't for Harley's "special" back :\ and that I need this bigger tree I might go somewhere else. But I've been guaranteed a saddle that will fit. I don't think I'll get that anywhere else, so I'm rather at their mercy.

And dog gone it, I can't get that video to play:(. Is there something different about it as compared to the one you put on here when you were lunging Cyn . That's the only one I've ever been able to get to play.

Was the one that played for you the one that was on Snapfish? Those played in Quicktime, these play in Windows Media Player.

My free month is up at Snapfish, so I can't load it there... maybe Frog can load it to hers.

Okie will get right in Sarah Lee's Butt. The other day I was walking them both . He seemed to think he was supposed to get in line and dropped back. His lead rope was literally hugging across her back side. I figured she would have a fit but she just kept walking.

Yeah that was what it was.

I think if I knew what I was doing I could get this to play, it loaded, I just don't know how to make it play.

Does Windows media open up? What happens when you press play? Anything?

Try opening media player and choose "Help - Check for Player Updates". Let it update your player if needed... maybe that's it.

I do. I'm polite but I will say "excuse me, I'm next. More often than not though I will say "he/she " was next. I don't know why but often if a few around a register, I get picked 1st.
