This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Cindy, my my dog got that way a few years ago and the vet said it was an age thing that could come and go. We were referred to A&M where they have donated hearing aids that they are using for dogs. Ask your vet for a referral if she does not get better.
Hearing aides for dogs? Seriously? HMM. I'm hoping maybe she just has some wax build up down deep.
Looks like we could get some severe weather tonight.
It's very humid here right now.
Becky
Yikes. I just saw that. Looks like the tail will miss us.
Yes, seriously.
hey
Oh dear - just getting caught up and watching the weather now. Hope you don't get any bad stuff at your place.
How are you doing?
Prayers for our FReepers in the West and Mid-West, with storms and fires to deal with. Unusually warm here also, temps in low 70's and storms. Stay safe.
We're fine. Thanks:)
Becky
Glad to hear it... I watched quite a bit of the storm coverage and those in the path really got hit. Still trying to see if all are accounted for in the HH.
Have we got everyone accounted for here?
Hey, I talked to mom last night about your rooster. She laughed about it then said that they ate mine also. Didn't you say you had a bird come up missing awhile back? We might need to check her for feathers.
You find them all? It's darkening up here but the forecast is for zero rain. Go figure.
I threatened to cook him a few times. He was ornory. No one could have anything to do with him but me. I've heard big birds are like that sometimes though and only bond with their owner. If I still had him I think I would teach him to ride Okie. That would have been a site. Talk about color:')
Before adding the pine straw...
Afterwards...
The whole little side garden where it's at...
I've been really pleased with my pansies this winter. They really brighten things up when everything else is so drab and brown. They've been through some hard freezes too and just keep on perking back up.
They look great! I hope they do well, and hope y'all post pics as they grow this summer!
In this picture he was heating an iron rod to use on fixing a toe crack that Tennessee has had on his right hind hoof forever...
He cut the crack out with the nippers, then a hoof knife, then he sealed it with the hot iron...
It looks nasty, but it didn't hurt him at all. It's just hoof wall out there on the toe. He said to keep it sprayed with 10% iodine to keep the fungus out and it should grow out. We'll see I guess.
Wow! That's some snazzy farrier truck!
My farrier is currently driving an old pickup with his forge*, a propane tank, cardboard boxes full of horse shoes and a system of organization only he understands.
*I at least feel the pickup truck is less likely to blow up than when he had that thing in the back of a minivan...
