Those sharp older people can really tell a story when you get them engaged.

I got into a conversation with a 94 year old gentleman from Vermont, who has an astonishing history. Left Vermont to go to California, and trained in Aviation at the Oakland airport in the '30s. Got a college degree, and worked for Boeing, and McDonnell Douglas on many projects from WWII fighters to the Minuteman III missle systems. He is a direct descendent of Benjamin Franklin, and also served in the Secret Service protecting Eisenhower in the 50's. He has been retired and living off pensions for thirty years now.

He is spry, clear minded, uses no glasses, and his wife who is just 90 is likewise.

Hello,

Is that some kind of 'Fabada'?

It uses the same beans as Fabada. But Fabada is more like a winter soup with chorizo (Spanish sausage), ham and served hot

This dish is served cold and has a more delicate taste with small peeled shrimps, peppers, eggs etc., in oil and vinegar

The clouds were really smoky this morning. The brightness of the sun, although partially obscured, does cause the camera to darken the clouds a little more.

Our Merchi is very bright and has a great memory, we always use her as our contact point to spread the word.

She loves to read the newspaper from end to end , so since her 90th birthday we have given her an annual newspaper subscription for her birthday present. And, as her birthday is the 31st of December it makes for a real calendar year.

Here she is at 91, in Bioana, at the helm of the caraval La Pinta which arrive in Baiona on March 1st., 1493 to tell the world of the discovery of the new lands soon to be called America.
