Steelers ticker-tape parade Tuesday BREAKING NEWS

Pittsburgh will throw a ticker-tape parade Tuesday morning to celebrate the Steelers' first Super Bowl victory in 26 years. The parade of Steelers players and high school marching bands will set out from Mellon Arena at 11 a.m. and proceed down Centre Avenue. The marchers will turn left on Sixth Avenue, go right on Fifth Avenue, turn left on Liberty Avenue and stop near the Pittsburgh Hilton Hotel near Gateway Center, Downtown, said Public Works Director Guy Costa.

Many of the sports announcers and media people don't believe that the Steelers should have won. Toilet paper would be a more fitting tribute.
"LOL. I noticed you had a lot to say about how losers should "lose gracefully". In showing good sportsmanship, there is such a thing as winning gracefully too, ya know?"
Oh believe me, I am a graceful winner. I give the Seahawks a lot of credit-they are a good team, they played us harder than I believed they would, and we did not play our best game-it's not the team I have an issue with, it's the people whining and crying after the game. We fought hard to get here and we deserved to win. It's really pathetic to see people try to take that away from our team. It's hard to be nice when your moment of joy is being rained all over by a bunch of crying babies.
Yeah, I was surprised all the guys on ESPN actually said the officiating definitely affected the outcome. I didn't think they'd go that far and I'm not totally convinced that's really the case, but nevertheless they sure did bash the officiating.
There was an article from a Miami newspaper that said the same thing. Sports talk radio agreed this morning, but as the day progressed, it sounds as though they were given the word to not bash the officials, because they unexplainedly changed their opinion.
I found the constant profiles of the Steeler team members to be completely offensive and indicative of the prejudice against Seattle. If you read the USA Today article, profiling the two teams, you get an idea of what they were thinking, that Seattle isn't a real "football" kind of city and didn't deserve to win. Kind of like, Clinton Powell isn't a real Black, Gonzalez isn't a real Hispanic. The article claimed that while Seattlites drink lattes, Pittsburgh fans drink Iron City.
"Steeler fans can be "in your face" about winning? Thems some good rules you got going on."
You just don't get it. It's not like I've come on here saying "Yeah, we won, screw you all". I'm defending the team against ridiculous baseless attacks, It has nothing to do with being in your face about winning-it's a response to all of the nonsense about the refs, not our team, winning the game.

That's the funniest statement I've read all day-there was a BLATANT bias against the Steelers in ALL of the coverage of every single post-season game. The entire SB pregame show can be basically summed up as "Steelers-mean, trash talking and overrated, Seahawks, nice, quiet underdogs not getting the respect they deserve." It was obvious the media was working itself all up for a big upset which they DIDN'T get-that's why we're seeing this backlash now.
I guarantee you-if that offensive pass interference was committted by a Steeler and it WASN'T called, we'd be hearing the exact same whining we're hearing now. It has nothing to do with the calls themselves, there is nothing there to indicate that these calls were even WRONG, let alone intentionally biased.
I dunno know, that sounds a little "in your face" to me, but I've definitely heard worse. I just found it comical that calling people sore losers and chokers was coming from someone who found it necessary to lecture other fans on sportsman like conduct.
Since you can't seem to see the difference between people criticizing the officiating and your Steelers, you might want to refrain from watching very many national sports commentators or writers for the next couple of days. Some are being pretty brutal....of the officiating, that is.
I agree with you. The Steelers fans should not be so paranoid. The bashing is mostly about the officials.

Yeah, if that constitutes "in your face" maybe you should give up being a football fan and start watching competitive knitting or something.

I can understand it perfectly:
"The officiating was bad"="criticizing the officiating"
"The refs gave the game to the Steelers", "the refs stole the game from the Seahawks", "the Seahawks would have won if it were not for the officiating" = "criticizing the Steelers and stating they didn't deserve to win".
It also equals total oblivion to reality.
Yeah, I heard about the bias against the Steelers in the lead up games, I also heard it said that the refs were obviously determined to make it up to the Steelers.
The overwhelming response in the media seems to be that the refs threw the game to the Steelers, with a few exceptions of course.
It must be a heavy burden you have to carry....going to message boards....posting anonymously to defend your team against imagined attacks. Look, you're the one who started the sportsmen like talk on here. If you're so worried about your kids seeing such bad sportsmanship, why don't you start by being a good example and walking the walk....oh yeah, and don't let them read your posts.
Really? Name the sports announcers - the MANY who think they should not have won (and if not, then what did Seattle do to put points up on the board?). And media people - hey here on free republic most of us don't LIKE the media people and now we're taking their pundit opinion as expert?
Several of the media members have admitted that they were biased against the Seahawks, going into the game, but were embarassed by that bias after seeing the refs throw the game to the Steelers. Of course, I don't expect die hard Steeler fans to admit this.
Check out ESPN. The ESPN articles, along with polls that state that 77% of the public believes that the refs were biased in favor of the Steelers and that the Seahawks should have won the game.
I'm glad you waited - I have a two hour commute from VA to PA.
1. The seahawks have not even gotten home as of yet, so when have they had time to address the bad calls? And I never slammed the seahawks players.
2. When the recovered fumble was taken away from Polamulu, it certainly did look like the refs were favoring the Colts. Yep, It was easy to be mad, however and I'll say this AGAIN, the Steelers overcame bad calls and went on to win - something that the Seahawks could have accomplished last night. Matt Hasselback was intercepted. The Seahawks had the ball way longer than the Steelers in the first quarter and were ineffective. Many pundits today were saying that Mike Holmgren's time management was poor and that he did the same when he was in the Superbowl with Green Bay. Don't forget there was the push at Big Ben that was not called, and the fumble by Stevens that was not called a fumble.
