And we wonder why we are thought of poorly as tourists in other countries...I can assure you that sending this tornado of morons as our unofficial ambassadors on their race around the world doesn't help our case any. Wouldn't we be just a little pissed if everywhere we looked there was some ahole running through the terminal with an overstuffed neon backpack on shouting at the top of his lungs and demanding that people let them pass in line because they are in a race around the world?

You've never flown through Newark, I take it.

There's more than a few airports around the world where people take mileage runs to up their airline miles; if you think an Amazing Racer is rude, you should see one of these bargain hunters who are on a 36 hour flight run so that they can get bargain tickets to Paris.

I tend to agree with you - the race concept is an interesting one but the competition makes the participants behave like "Ugly Americans", and we don't need any more bad press.
I wish they'd take time or points off each time a contestant is rude or obnoxious or makes Americans look bad.
And I HATE when they take all the money and make rich Americans beg for cash in 3rd world countries.
