How To Torpedo A First Date
cbs ^ | 2-4-06

SNIP

Among the possible deal-breakers they discuss are:

too much perfume/cologne

talking about a past relationship

a guy ordering an apple martini

woman who does the old "I'll have a salad" routine

body odor and/or bad breath

checking out the waiter/bartender

setting up the date via text message/e-mail

too much make-up/plastic hair

So what exactly are the very worst deal-breakers? Depends on whom you ask. Speaking for women, Nicole's top picks are :

guy that is down on his luck--pathetic!

guy that acts rude or cocky

guy that talks on his cell phone

And the top three for men, according to Ian:

woman who acts like she's interviewing a guy

woman trying to make over a guy

woman with restrictive eating habits (Do I look fat?)

Better diameter and circumference. Can be cut to any desired length. Firm, yet non-dessicated surface.

My first date was awesome. We (my husband now :)) went to an Italian restaurant for our first date. Before we were seated the waiter referred to me as his wife. We looked at each other with big smiles because someone would assume that. We had a great meal, wonderful conversation and are now married. Everywhere we went from then on, everyone always thought we were married. We thought that was so neat, guess it was a sign hehe..

My worst date was also with my husband, although none of what happened was his fault. He was very helpful, caring and calming throughout the whole ordeal.

I agree 100%. I crack a lot of off-color jokes here, but seriously, you are right. I have found that it depends largeley on where you meet the girl, and in what context the dating relationship is started.

I lived an absolutely hedonistic, sex crazed life for a couple of years, before I got saved. I met my wife 18 months later, and she was no angel beforehand either.

My wife and I also abstained during our 10 month engagement. (We couldn't go 1 1/2 years, that's crazy! lol) We have been together for 13 years now, happily. The 'old wisdom' works.

Dude, we were the biggest collection of D&D geeks you ever saw. We used to get high from painting the lead figures too.

Yes, tacky, but your first date was better! He must have liiiked you (wasn't that a line from Miss Congeniality?) ;)

Like someone said for my tacky date, maybe he was trying to tell me she was not coming back. (Yuck, though, lol)

Well, his version was that he didn't have a lot of time for all the romantic niceties. He needed a wife and a mother for his kids. He offered assurances that I wouldn't be disapponted in other areas. Strange thing, I kinda liked him...and the kids, but that was just a little TOO fast.

I realized my date was over when the guy asked me, "How are you getting home?"

Recently my son had a "first Date". As soon as the girl got in the care she moaned "My life sucks"

That DID it for my son.

You see? That just shows he cared.

I can't believe nobody picked that up and ran with it! I'm laughing over here, being married for 13 years! ha!!

Thank you, but you know few artists are appreciated in their own time.

Well, didn't have that many first dates actually. I had a couple good ones, I guess... My 16 year old sweetheart gave me a ring when we were in 3rd grade. He threw his ring at me and quick rode away on his bicycle. I didn't talk to him again until I was about 15 or so. Then we were high school sweethearts for 3 platonic years until I went away to college. First love is so sweet.

Don't use any verbs during the entire meal.

Good, this one. Maybe for me, for a while. One fellow, entire book, no verbs. Not that hard. But fun.

Tell us about the things you HATE on a date - or - tell us about your worst first date!

That said, I've gotta ask the question: What if I've never been on a date?

Gross, although that reminds me of an SNL sketch with Dana Carvey. Anyone else remember the Bellissima sketch where he licks Kirstie Alley's face as a waiter at an Italian restaurant? Lol.. gross but funny the way it was done.
