OK, it's time to vent my spleen.
I'm so disgusted with the Democrat and Left in this country...American men and women have been dying at terrorists' hands since WTC-1 in 1993 (if not before), and the damn Democrats, and their surrogates like MoveOn and the ACLU can do nothing than undermine the President and the GWOT.
These bums like Kerry, Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, et al, don't give a damn about fighting terrorists. They have forgotten Sept 11. All they care about is opposing anything the President is for - and all just to regain power so they can pass THEIR pork barrel projects, line their pockets, and prolong their programs to maintain their political base.
The only rational Democrats alive are Ed Koch, Zell Miller and Joe Lieberman.
The rest act and speak like those disloyal, seditious and insurrectionist "Peace Democrats" of the Covil War - the so-called COPPERHEADS.
Google "COPPERHEAD" and see if the term isn't a perfect description of the entire Democrat leadership of the Congress and the DNC.

Yep, I've been calling them copperheads for a couple years now - of course, given the state of the liberal education system in this country, I'm usually the only one around who knows what I'm talking about.

COPPERHEADS
The Copperheads, or "Peace Democrats," vexed Abraham Lincoln and the Republicans during the Civil War, campaigning against the war as a failure and opposing many military appropriations. The term Copperheads apparently came from the habit of some midwestern, hard-money Democrats of wearing copper pennies around their necks. Like most Democrats who supported the war, the antiwar Copperheads were opposed to the emancipation of the slaves. They were unhappy with the war effort, and reflecting their Jacksonian heritage, they disliked Republican economic policies, especially a national banking system.
The most notorious Copperhead was Clement Vallandigham, an Ohio congressman who gave up his seat to campaign for peace. In 1863, the writ of habeas corpus having been suspended, Gen. Ambrose Burnside had Vallandigham arrested; Lincoln released him, but exiled him into Confederate territory. He made his way north by ship and then across Canada. He ran for governor of Ohio in 1863, but lost, as did many Copperheads in state elections that year, in the wake of northern victories at Gettysburg and Vicksburg.
Still, the Copperheads retained some power. With Confederate agents, they subsidized several Democratic papers throughout the war, as well as freeing prisoners and capturing ships. They opposed the Democratic nomination of Gen. George McClellan for president in 1864 because he refused to accept their demands for an immediate peace; but they still had enough standing in the party to force the selection of Ohio Copperhead George Pendleton as the vice-presidential candidate. Their actions lent added credence to the Republican party's postwar use of the "bloody shirt" to charge Democrats with disloyalty.
All one needs to know about the DemocRATS! If one was to write a book about the "new millennium" DemocRATS, this sentence is all you'd need to write.

If you haven't already, I highly recommend Doris Kerns Goodwin's latest book, "Team of Rivals." It's amazing how much alike are the leadership styles of Lincoln and President Bush.

Copperheads were taking actions that would have led to the victory of the south. What that meant was that northerners would have split from the south and that slavery would have continued in the south. Life would have gone on in the north pretty much as before, but there would have been two republics in north america, and undoubtedly trouble to follow.
Democrats, on the other hand, actively took actions to help a communist dictatorship in the Soviet Union in its efforts to establish a similar dictatorship in North America, and enslave us all. When they lost that battle, they were lost in the wilderness for a few years, but then found a new way to destroy our heritage and way of life--Islamic fundamentalism. Now, they have latched onto it as their latest way to bring down western civilization. If the Islamists succeed, we will all be dead or converted slaves to a deluded mohammedan barbarian horde, praying to their moon god and enslaving our women in a horrible servile existence.
They are far, far worse than copperheads, who were, after, Christian, American, and did not wish us to die or become Arabs.

The left (ACLU, Kerry, Hillary, Murtha, Pelosi, E.L.F., communists, etc) have more in common with Bennedict Arnold, than with this particular species of snake.
Personally, I think it's an insult to Copperheads everywhere.

I think you're right. I believe I remember snakes used in old political satire cartoons.
With the conclusion of the war in 1865 the Peace Democrats were thoroughly discredited. Most Northerners believed, not without reason, that Peace Democrats had prolonged war by encouraging the South to continue fighting in the hope that the North would abandon the struggle.

Great post. They are traitors who need to be dealt with like traitors. I believe we are in a time of our history where their day of reckoning has finally come.
