Getting on with his life I would think. Helps deal with the grief... I have not been in that exact circumstance but I have experienced that getting back to as normal routine as possible after some tragic event does help. Just sitting around home thinking about things would not help. Going on a vacation would be inappropriate and would not help. So that leaves work. It helps if you like your work but any work can help keep your mind from getting in a rut.
