NFC Championship game
1-20-06 | normy

I have had it with the total lack of respect the Seattle Seahawks are getting in the media. I recently watched Sean Salisbury and Mike Golic almost mock the Seahawks on Wednesday.

The Seahawks have probowlers at center, left guard, left tackle, quarterback, fullback and runningback. They have one of the most accomplished head coaches in the NFC and have won 14 games this year.

Carolina is a very inconsistant team who has to fly from Chicago to Carolina then back accross country to Seattle to play in a rain forrest. Carolina is 3rd in the NFL against the run, but Seattle is 5th. Seattle is number one in sacks, I believe Carolina is 2nd. Steve Smith scored two 50+ yard touchdowns against the Bears after the corner fell down. Seattle lost the league MVP had 3 turnovers and still won by 10. The Bears lowly offense put up 21 against Carolina and if the refs call the delay of game against Grossman, the Bears may have well tied that game instead of turning the ball over.

Seattle is 8-0 in Seattle this year and have one of the best offenses in the league. Look for Seattle to not just win but beat hell out of Carolina. Don't worry though Hawk fans, you still wont get respect because Nick Goings is Carolina's runningback and thats how Seattle will be "backing into the Superbowl."

Look for Seattle to exorcise their final demon in the Superbowl when the beat their former AFC West rival, the Denver Broncos, the second most disrespected team in the league for the title.

Ha! Have you seen the Bears schedule? And as far as Giants or Cowboy fans are concerned, you lost. Not only did you lose, but you had to come back just to tie. The Giants were given a bogus touchdown by Shockey and needed an amazing catch by Toomer just to get back in the game.

The Bears beat teams that made it to the playoffs, Tampa Bay, and Carolina Seattle only beat the Giants barely and Indy with 2nd and 3rd stingers.

Here is the reason - east coast media will not respect any team unless they have competed or won the whole enchilada. The Seahawks have not and therefore the sports media have pretty much blown any coverage of them this year. No one really took notice until Seahwaks gave a serious beat down to the Eagles 42-0 on MNF.

Now, that being said, Carolina has Superbowl experience and is playing like the team of 2 years ago.

It seems to be that Seattle's losses, or the Giants, or the (insert your team name here) losses are all based on the assumption "if only...". What gives anyone the idea that all these "what ifs?" will not occur in the NFC or the AFC Championship Game or the Super Bowl?

There's a reason they still play the games to determine the outcome.

Three Pro Bowlers on the O-line? Heck, the Colts had 7 Pro Bowlers on their team. Alexander is one head-knock away from watching the game from the bench, Peppers will play even if it means one needle for the first half and one for the second, and Delhomme is a playoff quarterback. Jake may bounce around all season, but he has elevated his game both times he has reached the playoffs as a starting QB. Not that it's a gaurantee, mind you, but it's worthy of consideration.

And even if all the players show up and play to their highest caapability, who is to say that the refs are suddenly immune from bad calls? Or that the kick holder will not muff a snap in the final minute of the game?

Play the game and we'll see what else we can complain about on Monday.

Just because Seattle benched their starters for that game doesn't mean it doesn't count. When Seattle decided to bench their starters they were up 14-3.

Who else did the Bears lose to? Wash,Cinci,Cleve,Pitts,Minn and Caro in the playoffs.

Seattle lost to Washington and avenged it in round 2 and Jacksonville the 1st game of the year. They beat NY and Indy.

It's probably those butt-ugly uniforms.

Man, you nailed it. The Seahawks uniforms are worse than those old dreamsicle Tampa Bay ones.

With all the artistic graphic design talent, and with Microsoft located there, surely they can come up with something better.

I don't knock the Panthers as a good team who deserves to be there, they do. Delhomme and Smith and the Panthers D are all really good too. The media however, Aikman and Ditka aside are acting like Delhomme dominates Hasslebeck and Smith is just too damn tough for anyone to stop. I saw Dallas stop him. Player for player the Seahawks are a better team, will they win, I think so , but your right the NFL is not a lock.

By the way the Colts have had plenty of respect this year, probably too much.

Granted the Hawks blue, silver and green were way better but the logo is one of the best in the NFL.

Yeah right. The Seahawks' logo looks like the Seahag from those old Popeye cartoons.

Geez, I can't believe how many references there are on this thread to the Giants almost beating the Seahawks. So what if they would have, the Seahawks would have come into the playoffs as the #1 seed and that game would have to be figured as an upset. As it is, the Seahawks won the game and proved to be the better team, even if they obviously weren't playing their best ball.

Your keyboard to God's ears.

Did you see the video on the news last night of all the waiters at the Metropolitan Grill doing a strip tease on top of the bar and donning Seahawks jerseys? Priceless!

They grow on you after awhile. Just like moss.

Sounds like my Dad explaining how the Hawks should have gone undefeated. I have to tell him "no Dad, Jacksonville beat us pretty bad."

No I actually live in Dallas. I was born in Edmonds and moved to Texas as an infant. I actually moved back when I was 14 and graduated from Edmonds High.

The only part of Seattle that stuck with me was those Seahawks. Since the NFL Sunday Ticket has been available I have gotten it every year just to watch the Hawks.

Ah! So you don't have moss growing in your ears like the rest of us?

Here's a shot from the Met yesterday. The waiters always wear tuxedos, but yesterday they took their jackets off and donned jerseys:

I LOVE the Seahawks uniforms.

And I agree with normy that the Seahawks have just about the best logo in the NFL. Maybe those who don't appreciate the logo don't anything about Northwest coastal art. I think it's a perfect fit for the area.

When I first saw them, I thought "Yuk!"

But I like them now. And I love riding the one Sounder train that has the Seahawk logo painted on the engine. I'm sure that will be one of the engines running on Sunday!

Do you think the Titans will end up with Young or Leinart in the draft? I guess it all depends on whether the Texans take Bush or Young. And then there's the Saints--if both are available, do they take Young, or Leinart? The draft class this year is very strong, and the Rose Bowl Crew will all be in the top 3 one way or the other.

A "sounder" is a group of warthogs.
