NFC Championship game
1-20-06 | normy

I have had it with the total lack of respect the Seattle Seahawks are getting in the media. I recently watched Sean Salisbury and Mike Golic almost mock the Seahawks on Wednesday.

The Seahawks have probowlers at center, left guard, left tackle, quarterback, fullback and runningback. They have one of the most accomplished head coaches in the NFC and have won 14 games this year.

Carolina is a very inconsistant team who has to fly from Chicago to Carolina then back accross country to Seattle to play in a rain forrest. Carolina is 3rd in the NFL against the run, but Seattle is 5th. Seattle is number one in sacks, I believe Carolina is 2nd. Steve Smith scored two 50+ yard touchdowns against the Bears after the corner fell down. Seattle lost the league MVP had 3 turnovers and still won by 10. The Bears lowly offense put up 21 against Carolina and if the refs call the delay of game against Grossman, the Bears may have well tied that game instead of turning the ball over.

Seattle is 8-0 in Seattle this year and have one of the best offenses in the league. Look for Seattle to not just win but beat hell out of Carolina. Don't worry though Hawk fans, you still wont get respect because Nick Goings is Carolina's runningback and thats how Seattle will be "backing into the Superbowl."

Look for Seattle to exorcise their final demon in the Superbowl when the beat their former AFC West rival, the Denver Broncos, the second most disrespected team in the league for the title.

Yes...I cannot argue with the points you make, but allow me this: as an intense Giants fan, I have seen them play your team and the Panthers. We had you beat at your house, except for our kicker. I believe the cats are--overall--a better team, but I wish you guys luck.

That doesn't explain why the Bears got so much respect this year. They haven't won a Superbowl in 20 years but boy did the press love them. I think part of Carolinas praise comes from them beating the media darlings NYG and Da Bears. The Bears obviously were one dimensional and besides the Seahawks the Panthers are the next most complete team in the NFC.

I hear what your saying about SB's but its obvious Seattle is the better team here. If Carolina wins I believe it will be a big upset. Not that Carolina stinks, I think they are the second best in the NFC, but to say, as Golic and Salisbury said, that Smith is better than Alexander, Fox is better than Holmgren, Delhomme is better than Hasslebeck, and Caro's D is better than Seattles. Its just not so cut and dry.

Do I think Caro can win? Of course, they're a good team but Aikman is the only one I hear giving Seattle a chance, of course he picked them at the beginning to be in the Superbowl.

LOL! Hey I'm in Dallas right now, Seahawks fans haven't awoke from their micro brew induced coma. Once they get some freakin Seattle's Best Coffee in them they will be on this board to help me out!

If Carolina makes it to Detroit, they'll go without a couple of their cheerleaders. They made their own plans in a Tampa bathroom a few months ago.

And your rant does not include the fact that the Bears knocked the crap out of the Panthers and their top running back will be watching on crutches. They won the battle but will lose the War as a result.

as an intense Giants fan

Oh, well that explains it. If Shockey's bogus touchdown is ruled properly the Giants game would have never gone into overtime.

What you should say is "Wow, Seattle's home field advantage caused our line to jump 11 times. If it weren't for an amazing catch by Toomer and a bogus touchdown by Shockey we would have gotten a beating."

Its like the Cowboy fans down here tell me "man we had you beat and you snuck out". I like to say "when did you have us beat? We almost always were up on you and you had to come back to tie it up. You almost stole a victory from us but you didn't."

Thats the way I see it :)

I do agree that Shockey's was a non-catch. But--with all that--you were lucky to escape with a W. Forget the scores...from watching both teams play mine, I just feel AT THIS TIME the black cats are the more complete one. Make me look foolish and I will offer you my most sincere congrats next week...

The Bears got respect because their defense was a wrecking crew for most of the year. And because they were expected to do nothing after Grossman went down. Cinderella teams always get attention and respect.

Unfortunately the coaching let the team down the last two games and the slow start by Grossman and the quick score by the Panthers made it almost impossible to recover.

But Bears' fans realize that this team played far better than anyone expected and, given its youth, will just get better particularly now that we have two promising young qbs. Most believe it a miracle that we had a qb actually last through fifteen games. That has not happened in well over a decade. Next year and the year after should be the Bears year.

If Peppers is out, then Hasslebach will have some breathing room. Otherwise the Panthers D will embarrass your team.

Bears got respect because they lead the league in points allowed, they earned that respect. Going into the season Sports Illustrated had the Bears ranked as the WORST team#32 in the NFL.
