Good evening, Jonny. "Skank girl," LOL!
Tonight I look forward to seeing the dude with the bright yellow plaid outfit and matching hat. Maybe he'll set a new fashion trend and the AI powers will want a piece of that action.

A recap from the
Jaded Journalist:
So. Crystal. I have a feeling that if you gave Crystal and her mother a ten question quiz, and let them work on it together, and told them the answers, they might still get a zero. I haven't seen such vacant stares this side of a mannequin. Crystal looks like some bizarre combination of Ashlee Simpson and Nicole Richie, which is...well, it's not good. It's just not good. Also, Crystal is orange. Crystal doesn't make it. I hope she doesn't cry, or else the hotel staff will be mopping up mascara for a week. Crystal gets cut and now we can all forget Crystal. Yes, yes. We'll see her again. She'll be famous. I'm very certain of that. But let's just forget her for now.

Earlier this evening there was a commercial for our local Fox News. They have an interview with Paris Jr. tonight and the commercial said, "Hear how a local girls American Idol audition devastated her".
I will watch and report back!

Another night, another
Idol... by my count, they showed all of
seven people making it into Hollywood from Denver, though there were obviously others that we didn't get to hear.
First and foremost, let me say that barring a total meltdown or an amazing amount of talent yet to be seen, Lisa Tucker should be considered an early favorite to win the competition, almost certainly a top-5 contestant. She may be 16, but she looks much more composed and poised than that, she's pretty, and most of, the girl can sing -- great tone, good technique, nice power, nice control, excellent consistency between the lower and higher registers.
After that, it was hard to get excited about the others.
- Brett ("Ace") Young is another one of those guys with an OK voice, but way to "breathy" for my tastes.
- There's nothing to complain about with Rochelle Elaine Dye... I just think there'll be at least half a dozen other folks making it to Hollywood who are going to look and sound almost exactly the same.
- Chris Daughtry ("the rocker") is an interesting case: I don't think he has the vocal chops to show the necessary versatility, but he looks like a good performer who can possibly go quite a way with only a mediocre voice.
- Speaking of mediocre voices, Heather Cox has got the right look, but doesn't impress me as a top contender with her voice.
- Now, as for standing out in the crowd, we have Garet Johnson... I'll admit when I first saw him, I thought "gay cowboy", but he really just seems to be a shy, lonely kid who has completely undeveloped wild talent. Bringing him to Hollywood is really just a charity move by Randy and Simon (!), but with training, there is an excellent voice waiting to come out in there. Very similar to taking the street dancer Ryan on the dance show over the summer, for those who watched that. I hope, but don't expect, that he'll do well -- what a story if he does!
- April Walsh was surprisingly good compared to what I was expecting, but her vocal and performance styles are far more musical theater than pop.
On to Greensboro, NC...
