for Tammy
The song Chris sang Wednesday night.
FUEL LYRICS
"Hemorrhage (In My Hands)"
Memories are just where you laid them
Dragging the waters til the depths give up their dead
What did you expect to find?
Was it something you left behind?
Don't you remember anything I said when I said,
[Chorus:]
Don't fall away and leave me to myself
Don't fall away and leave love bleeding in my hands, in my hands again
And leave love bleeding in my hands, in my hands
Love lies bleeding
Oh hold me now I feel contagious
Am I the only place that you've left to go?
She cries her life is like
Some movie in black and white
Dead actors faking lines, over and over and over again she cries
[Chorus]
And I watched as you turned away
You don't remember, but I do
You never even tried
Don't fall away and leave me to myself
Don't fall away and leave love bleeding in my hands, in my hands again
Leave love bleeding in my hands, in my hands again
Leave love bleeding in my hands, in my hands again, oh
Sway is 24 years old and from Hawaii according to my detailed notes.
Top group tonight:
Elliot(Best voice of the guys.)
Chris(One dimensional but he does what he does very well.)
Gedeon(Nice job.)
Taylor(Still hoping he wins but he only manages to make the bottom of the top group tonight)
Bottom group:
Ace(This week's song exposed his singing weaknesses.)
David(Better than last week.)
Will(Bland. Needs to pick "fun" songs.)
Sway(Still don't like him but at least it wasn't that unbearable falsetto.)
Kevin(His odd appeal is wearing thin. Expect him to be gone soon but he had a better run than he probably should have.)
Bucky(Just not enough talent to last. Probably gone along with Kevin.)
Taylor is a club singer...he's not an American Idol singer...his schtick is already getting old.
I thought they weren't allowed to be professionals..meaning no CD's.
My top three tonight: Elliott, Gedeon, Chris
Bottom three: Sway, David, Bucky.
The others were all mediocre...even Taylor.
Thanks for bringing the lyrics here. I would never have recognized them, the way Chris shouted, groaned, and growled them tonight.
I guess I just don't like rock singers.
But his stage presence and confidence level were good.
trust me... he sang it much better than the guy from Fuel.
Honey,,those are not new "boobs". New boobs do NOT sag!!
rob, I wish you would give us more insider information. Like who is the drunkest and rowdiest of the crowd when they party at the hotel.
LOL!!!
My best friend is dating Paula.
Nothing on Paula is new.
Elliot(Best voice of the guys.)
Agreed. Passed my goosebump test.
Hah! You should give us a rundown of your goosebump count.
Only Elliot tonight.
Was hoping for Daughtry goosebumps, but didn't feel a thing. ":^6
I'm for Chris and Elliot for the men, and haven't figured uot who I'm for in the women!
Time for the West Coast wrapup!
I'm going to stand by my assessment from last night, and continue to say that the guys really have the talent this year. More than one of the guys is either at what I term "performance level" right now, or is nearly at it and will be soon with a little more experience.
And the categories ....
Please Leave the Island Quietly and We Won't Call Security:
David "Crooner" Radcliffe. Nice voice (though lacking in range), but he needs about 5 years more experience being in front of an audience. His nerves are the kiss of death. Nobody wants to watch a nervous performer. (That said, I really do think he has quite a nice voice for such a young man, and I really hope he won't take his incipient ouster for an overall rejection of *him*, and just quit singing. [Sounds drastic, but I've seen that kind of thing before.] I hope he continues to work on his singing and his "act" and that we hear more from him in a few years.)
Kevin "C.K." Covais. (Has AI been snooping on this thread?) Honey ... you're a cute little man. You got your cheeks pinched -- probably both sets. Now go home and quit sucking up air time.
Sway. Boring, average karaoke. (Sorry to be so blunt, since he seems like a nice young man, but we calls 'em as we sees 'em.)
Okay, But No Surprises:
Taylor. I'm really sorry to put The Hicks in this category since I like him, but his song tonight rose only to the top of this category, no further. He needs to find The Definitive Hicks Song to put his stamp on this competition. Hasn't happened yet.
Ace. Competent, but he sounded like a million other pop singers tonight. If I heard that on the radio, I wouldn't turn it off, but I also wouldn't bother to find out who sang it. A disappointment after last week's scorching performance.
Will Makar. Edging up after last week. Some lovely, clear, limpid notes in that song ... but individual notes do not a whole song make. (Or something like that -- you know what I mean!) Still, an excellent performance considering his age. Not considering his age, he achieves only the Okay category.
Bucky. (He pulled back his hair! Maybe next week he'll get it cut. One can hope.) I was really galvanized by his intro to the song, sat up and really listened ... and then he blew it all with the refrain. Spotty performances like this one won't win this contest.
And in the Wow, Who Knew? category:
Gedeon. Disregarding his rather frightening personal appearance, this boy can sing! (And is he really only 18? He seems much more mature.) I see a future for him in the biz no matter what happens in the contest.
Mr. Tumnus. Well, NOW I understand Simon's earlier comment about his having the best voice in the competition. What a lovely, clear, melodic, lyrical rendition of that song. Just lovely. I would buy that album. I would NOT buy a concert ticket at this point, however, since so far, Elliott has not yet learned what the rest of the stage besides the two sq. feet that he is standing on is for. He appears rooted in one spot, with his arms tied to his sides. Not a good stage appearance. If he can loosen up and cultivate some stage presence, Elliott will be a Serious Threat.
And ... drum roll please ... Chris Daughtry. Wow. Just wowee. That, my friends, was a Finished Performance. He was absolutely and fully committed to that song. Terrific use of soft and loud passages, great facial expression, a great command of the entire stage. Chris is the guy to beat.
And auxiliary categories:
Most Likely to be Mobbed by Prepubescent Girls:
Will Makar, Ace, Chicken Little
Most Likely to Appear in The Chronicles of Narnia:
Elliott (Say hi to Aslan for us!)
Most Likely to be Dragged Into a Dark Corner by Any Red-Blooded Female over 25:
Chris Daughtry
ROFLMAO!! You just made tea snort out my nose .... :)
BWAHAHAHAHA!! OMG ... don't make me laugh that hard this close to bedtime. You're not supposed to have that much excitement at this hour of the night; I'll never get to sleep this way. :)
