for Tammy
When you see her tonight, you can tell she's been practicing and perfoming since the crib. It's a little disturbing.
LOL!!!
They are all soooo tall this season.
((blushing)) :)
True.
You made me watch figure skating--I hope you're happy :)
Wait--that was a girl figure skater??? I can't tell any more :o
My work here is done.
With that costume she could go right into singing, "Think I'll for a walk outside now, summer suns callin' my name, just can't stay inside all day..."
Yes, I knew the words to "Sunshine Day" without looking them up. I am a fountain of useless information.
Yes, she was a girl. I know, it was confusing. She's the favorite, too.
Yet further proof that we're related :-D
This one's wearing a skirt--and has long hair. No gender confusion here :)
LOL!!!
I'm out of here for the night. I'm so sleepy and I have got stuff to do before bed. See you all tomorrow!! I have fairly high expectations for the men, so they better not suck.
See ya later, RK! Good fun tonight :)
She is almost going to have to be one of the last two standing at the end of the season or Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will pull one of their hold-ups -- ummm, protests.
LOL
Paris' pedigree might backfire on her. She didn't win many (if any) fans here tonight.
I haven't heard her performance tonight yet, but her solo during the Hollywood round sucked. She was good on during the audition, but maybe we thought so only in contrast to all the really bad auditions we had been seeing.
Maybe Paris is really not all that good, and maybe that's why she's on AI. Maybe no record company thought enough of her demos to sign her.
My thoughts after the first elimination round :
I loved:
* Mandisa - she looked great, sounded great, and kicked ass on a tough song.
* Katherine - She toned down the melisma, and sounded great. Vocally, the most well trained of the bunch and it shows. Shoulda chosen to try Barbra's HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN to really highlight her abilities instead of this one.
* Ayla - I really didn't expect to like her (especially when I heard what song she'd be doing), but I think she did a surprisingly good job with it. I'm Pleasantly surprised.
* Paris - the outfit, the hair... all very retro 70s. Her dancing was a bit over the top, but I loved it. Paris is Fantasia with the better personality.
* Lisa - Yeah, so she smiled too much. But she kicked ass vocally. What stage presence for someone so young !
The disappointment was Kellie Pickler. I was kinda rooting for her but she did not do justice to the song.
RANKED ACCORDING TO PERFORMANCE TONIGHT TOP TO BOTTOM :
Katherine Mcphee
Lisa Tucker
Mandisa
Paris Bennett
Ayla Brown
Melissa Mcghee -- Well, she made me like Faith Hill.
Kellie Pickler
Kinnick Sky (like her humble comment about learning from babes)
Heather Cox -- Tried to do a Vonzell, made people miss Vonzell.
Brenna -- I didn't think it was possible to hate her more, but here we are... Horrible performance and my goodness, she has the worst personality I've ever seen. She can't go home soon enough.
Stevie -- Classically trained opera singer ? Where's the technical polish when you need it ? Needs to go back to school.
She's good, but maybe too good. She knew exactly what she was doing tonight. She knew where to stand, how to move, how to do it all.
It's like a smart kid taking a remedial class--she just doesn't belong here.
