Missed that one! (probably a good thing...) Must have been on in the first half. Well, I'm off to do a few things before I put my jammies on. See you later. ((hugs))

I had to take a break and tivo it, just watched the rest. Watching it while freeping makes the show 10 times funnier.
Is it me or are half the guys in this competition gay?

Is it me or are half the guys in this competition gay? LOL Nope, we've noticed that too. Disturbing, isn't it?
But most of them aren't going to Hollywood, so hopefully things will be a little straighter tomorrow night.

Is that why he keeps saying "Seacrest, out!"?
(Okay, I stole that from "Robot Chicken". Mea culpa.)

Jonny and Emily, are you still around? It's 10 minutes to 8:00pm Pacific time as I post this. Here's a great photo of Bo taken today at the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party in Beverly Hills. He's looking healthy and like the Bo we all remember from last year.

Another of Carrie. I don't like the way she's dressed.

>>>He's like a young Charles Nelson Riley<<<
That kid really cracked me up. I think he has a future in comedy.
Other than that, not much talent to be seen or heard tonight.
The boy who looked about 12 years old with the beautiful Irish tenor voice was gifted, but not right for American Idol.
The girl with the bleached blonde dreadlocks was awful but she got thru to Hollywood because she said Randy was "sexy", like "my Dad". Now THAT was CREEPY!!!

What an awful outfit on Carrie. Her face looks different, too.
The slave bracelets and slave sandals scream out "PORN QUEEN!" Are her handlers trying to make her into another Pamela Anderson, or WHAT???

Are her handlers trying to make her into another Pamela Anderson, or WHAT???No handlers at all. Celebs these day choose their own wardrobe and hire their own make-up artists. Carrie chose her own outfit.

I was wrong about how Kelly seemed uncomfortable with Clive. According to the folks over on her board, Clive is her escort at the party. They say he's trying to smooth over the AI songs controversy.

Kelly -- obligatory pose for the photogs tonight. She's developing a modern, but very classy sense of style.

At 23 the first American Idol is a grown-up, sophisticated young lady.

OK, we've had entirely too much glamour for one evening. This is someone named Steve. I don't know who Steve is, but he was at the Clive Davis party tonight.

Kelly looks lovely in the photos, but that dress is doing her no favors. I cannot believe how many young starlets/singers etc. have NO CLUE how to have a dress fitted properly. (Though actually, any strapless dress basically needs to have structural underpinnings running all the way down to the waist, just to make sure everything stays up. Empire styles like this one eventually start heading downhill over the course of the evening, with unfortunate, and sometimes disastrous, results. Even if it doesn't fall off completely it makes you look saggy, as you can see in these photos.) Carrie's dress is unfortunate also, though she does look pretty.
So glad to see Bo looking healthy! Good news. Thanks for posting all that. :)

Thank goodness the auditions are finally over... this was pretty painful to get through. The bad auditions really do stop being funny after a couple of nights. (Though I've got to give "props" to the guy who came in that hilarious fake armor.) They said they took 36 from Boston, but only showed four auditions of people who made it. I'd have rather they had a longer episode and showed us a good chunk of the other 32.
As for those they did show...
- Ayla Brown -- Looks good, solid voice, but as the judges pointed out, no real range of expression shown. She has potential, but frankly, this girl could probably use a small dose of disappointment in her life to build character.
- Rebecca O'Donahue -- Looks great and has a kind of sultry voice, but also an alto, i.e., a lower range than most of the auditioning females. I think she's someone to watch out for, but the lower range can hurt her, as everything she sings will probably have to be transposed and may "sound wrong" in the new key.
- Tatiana Ward -- I think she has a good basic voice, but terrible technique. Her pitch falls off at the end of phrases, and all of the glides and "coloring up" seem to me more like covering up the fact that she's not hitting pitches. I'd never have let her through to Hollywood.
- Kevin Covais -- When you saw him, you just knew he'd have a great voice, and be absolutely horrible. Apparently, it's the former. He showed nice pitch and control, and has a pleasant tonal quality. If he can survive Hollywood week, the stylist should be able to do something with him. If he's lucky.
Next: GAME ON!
