But sometimes it's funny--like the Fake Jamaican from Vegas. He was in tears after he was rejected, like he really thought he had a chance. I took that as more that he was upset with himself for wasting his chance with that gimmick, rather than just trying to be himself.

Is the talent pool drying up, or are the judges just getting pickier? 11 from Las Vegas, 12 from Austin They might be saving the best for last. These audition shows aren't airing in order--the Greensboro show was the last one recorded, but it was the third show to air. So maybe they've been saving Boston's show for a reason. (A good reason, I hope :)
Ronnie ("RJ") Norman - Cocky SOB...
He'll fall apart in Hollywood, I can almost guarantee it. He's there for the party, not for the opportunity. Can't stand him.
William Makar - Hmmm..... my notes for him are blank. That can't be a good sign...
I don't even remember who that was, lol :)

Anyone who is even remotely serious about auditioning for AI (and not just trying to get on TV), should find someone who has a video camera, record themselves doing what they plan to do for the audition, and then watch it back.Amen.
Some them though, like Tessie Mae, probably don't want to even hear (or see) the truth for themselves.

Tommy will be born on the 7th(if he doesn't come earlier) and my son,dil and Brandon will move in here for 1-2 weeks so I can help.....they will stay in my guest bedroom where my computer is....my computer time will be greatly affected and I will have to post from my webtv and that means no gifs or fancy tricks til I get access to my computer...sigh....so I may not be on all the treads for a few weeks after they move in......but I'll be watching all our shows...LOL

I took that as more that he was upset with himself for wasting his chance with that gimmick, rather than just trying to be himself. You're probably right. And he sang some made-up Reggae song about Idol, hoping to woo the judges. None of it worked :)

Jason Horn - Looks good on camera, nice speaking voice... the ladies will like him. He has a decent pop voice, though he need to watch out for rushing. Probable top-12 contestant. The ladies do like him, at least this lady does. Yipppeeeee!!!! At last, a manly looking, cute guy who has a real voice.

Kelly Clarkson continues to blaze a trail for other AI alumni to follow. She is performing at this year's Grammy Awards. The following article is
from MTV.com
Kelly Clarkson, Paul McCartney Making Grammy Performance Debuts
02.02.2006 9:51 AM EST First 'Idol' winner is up for two Grammys; former Beatle is in the running for three awards.

It's hard to imagine that after more than four decades as one of music's most iconic artists, Paul McCartney has yet to play live at the Grammy Awards. With 13 Grammys to his credit, Sir Paul has certainly taken the stage as a winner, but he's never dripped performance sweat on it. But that's going to change on February 8, when the 48th annual awards go off inside Los Angeles' Staples Center.
Like McCartney, original "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson will also be making her first appearance at the Grammys as a performer. Clarkson is nominated for two awards this year, including Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for the song "Since U Been Gone" and Best Pop Vocal Album for "Breakaway."
The Recording Academy announced Clarkson and McCartney's additions to the ceremony's lineup Thursday (February 2). Previously announced performers include Mariah Carey, Coldplay, John Legend, Bruce Springsteen, U2 with Mary J. Blige, Faith Hill with Keith Urban, Christina Aguilera with Herbie Hancock, Jamie Foxx with Kanye West and a collaboration between Madonna and Grammy-nominated animated group Gorillaz (see "Madonna's Oddest Collab Yet: Singer To Perform At Grammys With Gorillaz").
The Academy also revealed Thursday that Ciara, who's vying for three Grammys including Best New Artist, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and Best Short Form Music Video, would be taking part in the previously announced all-star tribute to Sly and the Family Stone, alongside Legend, Maroon 5, Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas, Joss Stone, Robert Randolph and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry (see "Jamie Foxx And Kanye Go For The 'Gold,' U2 And Mary J. Team Up At Grammys").
NOTE: In addition to Kelly's two nominations, Fantasia Barrino also has two performance nominations, plus the writers for one of her songs were also nominated.

Bo update: His album "The Real Thing" has officialy gone gold. It's sold 502,559 to date and is a reasonable #76 on the Billboard 200 album chart. I say reasonable because this has been without any promotion. I think it would go platinum easily if he could promo it. Even if he doesn't, it looks like the album will chug along and might make platinum by summer anyway.
Carrie update: Although it has slipped some, her album "Some Hearts" is still #7 on the Billboard 200 and #1 at country. She is double platinum now, and word is there will be two to three more singles off the album.

I am soooooooo torn.....
Next week is the opening ceremony of the Olympics at the same time as the first night of Hollywood auditions. While I am not a big fan of the Olympics, I am a big fan of the opening and closing ceremonies. They are usually HORRIBLE and completely pretentious. And with them coming from Italy- who at the last closing ceremonies in Salt Lake had their "opening ceremonies" as a bunch of models walking around to crazy club music with freaky images projected on to the ice- I expect them to be way, way goofy. The opportunity for cattiness like this truly only comes along once every four years.
But the commercial for the first night of Hollywood auditions was really good. Big dork crying, the little groups fighting, people complaining- how can I resist? The thing is...we all know too well how Fox can be more then a little misleading in it's promos.
What is a girl to do? ;-)

But that cuts my FR participation down to half, cause you know there is going to a hysterical thread for the opening ceremonies. There was one for Salt Lake and it was one of the funniest threads ever.
There is always channel surfing and multiple windows...
Or running back and forth from the bedroom tv to the living room tv with the laptop, but knowing me that will result in some kind of injury. LOL

Just checked the schedule--the Grammys and AI's first Hollywood show will be on at the same time, but AI will only be an hour long. Hopefully Kelly's performance won't be in the first hour--I want to see it :)
