The real issue with Paris is we'll have Elton John and the usual suspects yell "racism" if the kid doesn't go all the way. I'm not looking forward to that. Hopefully Elton will be too distracted by his new husband to notice (barf!)
[Kellie's] going to be compared constantly to Carrie.
Absolutely. She looks and sounds so much like Carrie that I'm surprised the judges let her through. She's not my favorite anyway.
Of the girls I've seen so far, I like the brunette you mentioned, Katherine McPhee, the best.

And I also want to hear more from Tyra Schwartz--I think that's her name. She has a great smokey voice and a pleasant personality. She might be a dark horse.
So far anyway, the guys seem really weak this year.
Are you talking about eye-candy or talent--or both? :) Once the show returns to Hollywood, the guys (and not the freaks) will be more noticeable. I'm getting tired of the freaks.

Are you talking about eye-candy or talent--or both? :) Grin...both. Ace provides some eye candy, but his voice didn't seem all that good, though. Maybe he'll surprise us in Hollywood.
So far, anyway, the only former AI finalist to go on to a real career in the recording industry is Josh, and he finished -- what was it? -- fourth. I was hoping they would find a potential male star this year.

Remember the bald guy who goes under the monicker -- SWAY ? He sang "Superstar" and was let through unanimpusly by the judges... well, he might be disqualified....

Jose Sway Penala, Is He American Idols Next Big Controversy?
Its no secret that many of the contestants that audition for American Idol arent exactly amateur singers. Many contestants have either been on other singing competition shows or have had albums released at some time in the past. In fact, both Bo Bice and Carrie Underwood from American Idol 4 had recorded CDs before their time on American Idol.
On IdolonFox.com, the question of contestants with professional music experience is addressed. Basically, the answer is in order to be eligible, the contestants are not permitted to have any CURRENT recording or talent management agreements. So if someone recorded a CD in the past, then they are still eligible.
Of course this explanation does not explain the case of Jose Sway Penala, who made it through to Hollywood in the San Francisco auditions. Sway wowed the judges with a rendition of Superstar by Luther Vandross. Sway is a 27 year old from South San Francisco, California.
Information that can easily be found via the Internet also reveals that Sway is a member of a group called 6th Day. According to a MySpace.com page for the band, 6th Day released for sale a CD called Forever Starts Today on BrownJungle.com in September of 2005. The MySpace.com page also claims 6th Day has a deal with what the site describes as a "major" record label called E-Real Records. E-Real Records still lists the band 6th Day on their roster on their website.
So maybe Sway quit the band and his record label before the American Idol auditions? The only problem with this theory is that the American Idol auditions started in San Francisco on August 18, 2005 and a September 21, 2005 article on titik Pilipino still lists Jose Penala as a member of 6th Day and reports that the band was doing Mall shows in Manila.
Could being part of 6th Day result in Sways disqualification? What if Sway becomes a big hit on American Idol, and his groups CD starts selling like crazy? Would American Idol producers have concerns over promoting an artist with a current CD that they wouldnt have a piece of? Or did Sway free himself of any current recording or talent management agreements in order to qualify for American Idol? Rumors are starting to buzz that Sway could be disqualified, but nothing has been stated by anyone official connected to American Idol to suggest that he is at any risk. Sway seems to be a big hit with fans as Internet fan sites for him have already sprung up. Assuming that Sway makes it to the viewer voting stage of the competition, he could do very well on American Idol.

Is Fox skipping the SOU tonight? I saw on their website that it is still showing the original time.

Unless the honeymoon is over already! Marriage has a way of doing that, gay or straight. ;)

Could being part of 6th Day result in Sways disqualification? Doubtful. Last year, Constantine's band "Pray For The Soul of Betty" and Bo's band "Sugarmoney" were both selling CDs while the AI competition was ongoing.
