but otherwise the tone is deadly serious. Except in the case of Chloe. She can make me snicker with her sarcasm or just plain laugh. Chloe is an EXCELLENT character and very well rounded. Her statement to Jack last year about if he needs someone to talk to was just hilarious. I loved it!

I agree. The VP is over the top.
Chloe is unintentionally funny. They don't give her jokes, per se. Not even close. The writers caught on very quickly how to write for Mary Lynn (who should get an Emmy, BTW). She is funny, but they keep the tone when they're behind the 4th wall.
I think we'll be seeing the end of the Hobbit (only some men can pull off "Lynn") before the end of this season.
