[Soaring Feather]

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

[Knitting A Conundrum]

I am sure it wasn't!

Beware love drops
in early dawn
cause dewey eyes at dusk

leaf dancing in wind
flitting between earth and sky
but earth at last wins.

ice curtains form
in storm windows
delicate persiable surprise

flitting between earth and sky

flirting around in clouds
the stairway to heaven
paved in diamonds of dew

Featherlike ice ferns
now growing on windowpanes
then melt in noon sun.

Oooops not a haiku, probably none of mine are.




floating as a feather light
little faery's her delight
running errands in the night
a dreaming poet's happy delight

smoke like memory
rising up from orange-red glow
hidden in the dark.


(Did I ever tell you I've been doing Haiku since I was 8?)

walking golden sands
holding hands
under shrimp skies
earthy paradise

I have just recently begun writing anything other than free verse

Sand sifts through my fingers
blowing gently into the breeze
leaving nothing behind
except some fragments of shell
to let me know
this is ocean,
not desert,
and in the end,
the differences matter.

smoke like memory

swirls like a dervish
faster faster as it spins
its color wans from gray to dim

Conundrums,
like the color gray,
swishing on needles of ebony,
a puzzle
where the thread comes from.

(I personally hit reply mostly. I do free verse, some metered verse, and satirical rhyming verse mostly. Once in a blue moon I'll write a sonnet.)

Breezes blowing soft
through swaying palms
a dreamy evening on the sand

I used to knit some time ago
little sweaters and scarves
to go round the little ones
small arms and neck
I retired the needles
they were a wreck.

Watery bonfire,
sunset sinking westward down,
alpinglow crimson.

Never thought of a sunset that way.

Near water it would like as though it were on fire.

cold steel wire vengeance
upon my tired aching joints,
silken thread shimmer.

I make so much noise
when I sit down
I scare myself

I need oil for my joints
and a get up for my get along.
