My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and me...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Bearer of the Holly
On a hill of emerald green lies the stone pile,
once a place of ancient might and knowledge stark.
Now it lies tumbled in the starlight this night so dark,
and the winds chase memories with subtle trial.
Dark these stone of old, soaked in history and blood,
once piled in strength, now tumbled by cruel guile.
Yet, still the walls hint at life once within this pile,
where love and laughter fell before fates flood.
Here life was lived by those who cherished the land,
and strove to keep it free from others greed.
Now their resting place is littered with weed,
and they sleep at peace from those of the iron hand.
They were a happy folk, song and dance and pipes did call,
and theirs a spirit free and bold shaping their lives so well.
Here, magic held sway, and forces old and ever darkly fell,
and Druids taught us the old ways, until the day they too did fall.
I can see them still, walking here and there, as before,
and I hear their voices soft on the wind across time dim.
For I have the gift, fey, weary of the things I see on Times rim,
a part of me, though faded by ages separating us evermore.
I perceive both worlds, one on the other, and both real they be,
each holding me in part, recording what will, and has been.
And I wish I might be just part of one, every now and then,
and leave my fate behind, no longer ancient as the sounding sea.
I am the bridge by which memories are renewed again,
as through me flows the spirit of this land, my fate.
Part curse, part honor, and part wonderment to sate,
my blood echoes the ancient gift, amid my quiet pain.

Sometimes I can and have been inspired by photos. Lately I have to rely on the muse. She is avoiding me again. ;) Yikes.

Thank you for the Graphic Miss Connie, it reminds me of my very first Fairy Book, and coincidentally, I was just seven years old when I received it. I still remember the very first sentence in the book.
Rosemary Jean was just seven years old,
and like most girls her age,
she longed to see a fairy.
Thank you for the memories . . . ;-)

On Writing
Prose and poetry,
poetry and prose
makes my head ache
and tickles my nose.
How shall I start
as my eyes start to cross,
I crumple the paper --
Another trashcan toss.
I'm getting quite good
with my paper toss free throw,
Maybe I should stop writing,
NBA forwards go,
A new career to start,
throw away all the paper,
Give my partner a scare -
what a fun caper!
Pen and ink, ink and pen,
printer, paper and scanner,
Come over here, words,
and I'll make you a banner!
Pen and ink, ink and pen,
words bubble and streak,
come home to me now,
and then again next week!

Thought of the Day
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "What lies behind us
and what lies before us are tiny matters
compared to what lies within us."
Today is Friday, Feb. 3, the 34th day of 2006 with 331 to follow.
The moon is waxing. The morning stars are Jupiter, Pluto and
Venus. The evening stars are Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune
and, Mercury.

With burn ban in place,
my yard's a disgrace,
piles of debris everywhere.
sigh! . . . I'm in dispair.
Bluebonnets getting ready,
with displays that are heady
Central Texas' contribution of blue,
Oh my, what a hue!!!
Spring bulbs are appearing,
brown grass disappearing, so
piles of debris, are definately,
the last thing I want to see.

Sam & Snippy's Store
We know the place in Oregon, where bird supplies surpass the ordinary shelves of bird seed and tinkling things made of glass. Why it's Sam and Snippy's place, of course there on the avenue, where tons of car go pass glancing over for a view.
Now one fine day while minding the store a cat wandered in...he said to himself, self this is where I should have always been. What better place to show my face than in a Birding Center I think by gosh that I will be a rooting' tootin' winner!
Sooo I look up at Snippy, she is working on the books Snippy looks over at Sam and says holy smokes we're hooked. This feline has to earn his keep, we already have the Sarge who eats his way through inventory by the virtual yard.
What to do, what to do, Sam scratches his fine head, Snippy this cat has no name how can we use this to the good? So the two proprietors put their heads to together to devise a plan, to run a contest in the hopes, folks would bring in the clan. Sure enough, came the day of Christmas Eve, when the entries were all laid out And sure as shooting, as I'm a poet, rank won out. So Sarge the dog and Colonel the Cat comprise the animal life at Sam and Snippy's Place.
