A Guide to the End of the World : Everything You Never Wanted to Know.
A structural study of Western movies. Very good.
The Right Stuff by Thomas Wolfe
Starship Troopers
The Caine Mutiny by Herman Wouk
Also the Winds of War, War and Remembrance, and Marjorie Morningstar by the same author
I also like the Harry Potter series, + Lord of the Rings
For old classics, I like the Jungle Books (probably read Rikki Tikki Tavi a hundred times to my daughters) and Captains Courageous, both by Rudyard Kipling.
If you've never read the original Dracula, by Bram Stoker, it's a very good read.
For political reading, The Tempting of America, the Political Seduction of the Law, by Robert Borke is great. Also, the Bell Curve is a fascinating book.
I'm not too big on the recent political books by Hannity, Coulter, etc. Nothing wrong with them, I just feel like I'm not really reading anything. Hope this helps.
Robinson Crusoe & A History of Israel: From the Rise of Zionism to Our Time (I try to read a fiction and a non-fiction book at the same time). Also dabble in Baseball: A Literary Anthology now and again.
Voyage of The Beagle
When everything fails, The Bible, Shakespeare or Atlas of World History...
Chaucer is pretty good too! Grimms Fairy tales. Till Eulenspiegel.
Listening to it, actually.
I just recently read "Hoodwinked" and it was excellent. I just started "Mao" ands it is extremely interesting and the writers make it flow well.
A fun book
