Snow dunes on a frozen lake at twilight....with some plastic vegetation for effect?

Correct except for the plastic vegetation. It disintegrates in the Michigan winter. I think that the few like Sharkey who remain in the frozen north just pile up several loads of coal and pretend it's vegetation. In some respects it probably is.

Poor thing. Spring better arrive soon or else next thing you know he'll be seeing bikini-clad beach bunnies strolling past his window with frosty, adult beverages.

Is that anything like a mirage? Tundra IS similar to desert in some ways.
