Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I haven't had coffee yet either. Sounds like a good idea.
To: RosieCotton
Yes, but I've been up since 6:30 and am just now getting coffee. That was not part of the plan.

By the way, the kitty grass diversion seems to be working as advertised. The spider plant is slowly recovering.
To: Corin Stormhands
Heh...yah, with the time zone difference, it's a lot harder on you than it is on me.
Plus I didn't get up that early.
To: RosieCotton
Did you plant yours from seeds?
We've got the spider plant where Abby can't get to it. She doesn't seem to bother the other plants. But she might enjoy the cat grass.

Robert E Lee and Stonewall Jackson?
What's the history?
What do they have to do with a 4 or 3 day weekend?
To: RosieCotton
It's my fault. I got to talking with a guy in the whirlpool. We were sharin' teenage football playin' son stories. I didn't leave there in enough time to get home to make coffee.

Yeah, they sell big packages of seeds at any pet store. It's basically just grain of various sorts. They even sell kits that include a pot and soil and all, but I already had that and seeds are cheaper.
It comes up pretty fast - three days or so.
To: RosieCotton; Corin Stormhands
Yay!
Corin: Sometimes PetsMart has potted grass. The seeds are cheaper and it doesn't take too long for them to sprout and grow.

Today is "Lee-Jackson Day" in Virginia. It's a state holiday.
It used to be on the 3rd Monday of the month. When that became the federal MLK, Jr. Day for several years Virginia celebrated "Lee-Jackson-King" Day.
Governor Jim Gilmore introduced legislation to make this Friday Lee-Jackson Day and Monday would remain MLK, Jr. Day.

Yes, but every time I go to PetsMart I want to buy fish.
A salt-water aquarium is on my wish list. Maybe one day I'll start getting presents for me again. ;-)
But I have to go to that shopping center anyway. I'll check it out.

Happy Jackson-Lee Day!

Salt water aquariums are really complicated chemistry... and as I recall, you've not had real good luck even with goldfish. :~D
What about a nice tropical tank to start out?

At the Home Show last year I met some guys who run an aquarium shop (is there a better term?). They said that if I wanted a saltwater tank that it's just best to go ahead and do it.
They would guide me through the process. For a fee of course.
My biggest problem right now is finding a place to put it. So I'm not going to do anything until the floor is done and probably not until after we've painted the downstairs.

I just want more plants. Lots more.
*sigh*
I feel like my whole life is on hold, and it's not a fun feeling.
To: Corin Stormhands
They are cool, I'll grant you that!

I still keep thinking tho, that when things click together for you they're gonna do so in a big way.
