LOL! When I was growing up, my mom and dad always split a whole beef with my uncle and his family. My dad always wanted the "variety meats" as they used to be termed in home ec classes years ago.
I bet you've never been served baked heart with dressing! And my mother DID serve tongue..yikes! She didn't even slice it before serving it...there that big old tongue was, taste buds and all!
That was when my ten-year old brother blew a gasket and yelled "All we ever have to eat in this house is turkey tongues and eyeballs!" He then got on his bike and rode to the dairy queen in town to get a cheeseburger, bought with his allowance money. HA!

"All we ever have to eat in this house is turkey tongues and eyeballs!"LOL! Liver was as much of a variety that my parents ever tried to serve us, thank goodness. And neither my brother nor I would even eat that. (We honestly weren't picky eaters, but we drew the line with liver.)

I've been thinking about your mother's baked heart w/dressing and that whole tongue w/the taste buds intact ALL day!
Your 10yo brother is/was my kind of guy! lol
