I'll take a hot toddy over nyquil anytime (but for prurient reasons not medical ones).

Hmmm...a very small motor?
And the "ridges?"
We may be onto something, Alice!

If they get lost, I suspect we're in for a rather interesting time, trying to find someone who can reamin "objective" while searching...*grinning and drooling*

I can't take Nyquil. It turns my brain to gray lint for two days after one dose. I get totally stupid from the stuff.

I don't think so, but no need to worry. I believe that there was at least one sincere offer of "technical assistance/full service". *shuddering with anticipation*

"Do you have an eta on the balls yet?" Don't get too antsy. They are still in the design phase.
You have no idea how important it is to a craftsman of my sentimentalities that this project be done correctly.
My current thinking is this: The design, rendered in alloyed gold, with intaglia platinum highlights, will be a combination image in the style of M.C. Escher; A dragon grappling with a phoenix.
Around the "equator" of the ball will be a very fine threaded connection, with a smooth tapered cylindrical chamfered rise to assist with the alignment of the halves.
The interior of the outer sphere will have a geometrically faceted surface, and the interior sphere, (made of textured iridium), will have a spiral slice structure as if designed like a tiny spring.
If one were to roll this sphere down an inclined plane, it would be seen to move just slightly erratically, as the interior sphere moved about in random motion, and with a slight musical quality, as the internal spring struck and resonated.
Does this sound appropriate?

Okay.
Design session:
We'll machine a titanium cylinder with fully hemispherical ends; one of which is threaded and sealed with an o-ring so it can be removed and replaced. Inside, will be a very small, axially-mounted motor with an eccentrically-drilled cylindrical mass press-fit onto the motor shaft. The motor is set into the extreme end of the cylider, and is powered by a single AAA battery. On/Off function is effected by a quarter-turn of the non-removeable end of the cylinder; much as with the popular mini-mag lites. Motor runs continually until the battery is expired or the device is switched off.
