Correction: It is only likely to exterminate North American life, and severely impact the rest of the globe for a generation or more. Remember, it has blown before.

Yet one more reason that humans, and Americans in particular, should be the primary colonists into space.

OK, the end of intelligent life on Planet Earth (because it would take out the denizens of FR).

But everything I have read says it is probably the end of everything. Last time it blew BIG it took out the dinosaurs (IIRC).

The documentary I saw on it was pretty succinct about the damage it would do to the world. Those who weren't immediately affected would die because of the inability of crops to grow, and of course, the lack of oxygen that dead plants would provide.

Of course, it coulda been another lefty Gloom'n'Doom movie, but there is enough data to make one think seriously about the desire to live here (on earth) if the Yellowstone Caldera blows.
