Correction: It is only likely to exterminate North American life, OK, the end of intelligent life on Planet Earth (because it would take out the denizens of FR).
But everything I have read says it is probably the end of everything. Last time it blew BIG it took out the dinosaurs (IIRC).

The documentary I saw on it was pretty succinct about the damage it would do to the world. Those who weren't immediately affected would die because of the inability of crops to grow, and of course, the lack of oxygen that dead plants would provide.
Of course, it coulda been another lefty Gloom'n'Doom movie, but there is enough data to make one think seriously about the desire to live here (on earth) if the Yellowstone Caldera blows.
