The kids were taken with it because it was all new and interesting. I was taken with it because I KNOW the technical acumen required to sing well at that level -- it's beyond my capabilities -- and these performers were ON. I've never been that much "into" opera, but I think I'd like to see something like Leoncavallo's "Il Pagliacci" done live. To hear an excellent voice just nail every note in a difficult aria; that's REAL soul food.
Absolutely. I totally agree... some of my favorites are Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras. Do you sing?
