I didn't identify you...
But believe it or not, this conversation did indeed take place when I fielded a tech support call. I've also had tech support calls where the customer did not want to bring in their computer for service. I then asked if head some chalk, candles, and a live chicken because aside from bringing in his computer for service - voodoo might be his best chance. He jokingly asked if I seriously thought the voodoo might work. I replied that I did not think that it would, and he finally did bring in his computer for service.
Not much can be done over the phone when a person has a serious hardware issue. And voodoo, while cool sounding, has as much chance of working as turning a 2 yr. old loose on it with a screwdriver and a hammer.
