"CFO signed the checks with a red pen, because he couldn't find any other color..." Not a good sign. Maybe he was trying to tell you something.

I get so mad sometimes with the implacable stupidity of certain "policies" Four of my kids who are in therapeutic foster care and up for adoption are serious outdoor types. The boys love hunting and fishing and collecting bugs and all that fun boy stuff. I was talking to them tonight about what they want for Christmas and one of them wants a toy gun. Normal request for a 7 year old boy, right? Wrong! Gun = bad. It led to a disussion with the foster parents, who also think it's ridiculous, about the policy of the TFC program....no toy guns allowed. Period. They can't get them as gifts and they aren't allowed to go hunting. This isn't state policy, but the policy of the individual program. The oldest (11) really wants to go hunting and has the chance to go. I told the foster dad that these people really need to have a lesson in the second ammendment. He thinks they should realize that it's a TOY.
Now I could understand this mentality with certain kids, but not as a general rule. The idea is to try and restore these kids' lives to some semblance of normalcy....or to actually give them some sense of normalcy, not to screw them up more. And it really hacks me off that they treat foster parents like they're complete idiots. The foster parents are the ones who are with the kids day and night and their homes are being micromanaged by people who see the kids an hour a week.

These kids might be in an adoptive placement soon after Christmas. I'm tempted to get the boys 3 of the baddest toy guns available. Oh yeah...they can't have knives either.

Technically, a bazooka isn't a gun...

Tragically it is a rubber training gun.
But when I was a kid... I'd have done horrible things to have one.

I had a dream last night about a cat I saw today. I had never seen the cat before.

'Cause when the city drops into the night
Before the darkness there's one moment of light
When everything seems clear
The other side, it seems so near
