New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |

Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Mornin'!
*inhales deeply* Ah! Fresh new Hobbit Hole.
And I just love that pic of Rosie! :-D
Duck Tape is our friend. :-)
Got all the trimming and weeding done and cut the yard. Scoping out new places for planting beds. LSA had to make a shopping run since Gypsygirl was running low on treats. (Gasp)
congratualtions Rosie! I hope this also gives you an opportunity to network.
Cleaned out the planter boxes and brought some order to the garden hose. Miss Cat explored the neighbor's yard and set the neighbor's squirrels to chittering.
Breakthrough! She used the pet door to get back into the house! Guess you can teach an old cat new tricks!
It was gloomy with a steady drizzle when we left.
Thankfully, it lightened up and then stopped once we got the horses brushed and saddled. I really liked how the lady who runs the place insisted that all of the riders learn how to care for the horses. Rebecca used a curry comb for the first time. And so did I. *grin*
Today she rode a handsome pony named Rocky. She wasn't happy about being led rather than riding herself around, but this was her first "official" lesson, so all rules had to be followed.
They had a variety of horses there. The paint is Sassy, the palomino is Chey-Annie and the liver chestnut is Dancer. They have about 25 horses in all, but only a few were brought out today.
I really liked Trigger. I hope to get to ride him when my lessons begin.
This place was very pretty with lots of grass and well-kept stalls. The horses seemed happy too, despite the rain that reappeared, forcing us back inside.
I took the chicken coop picture for 2J. :-D
Fantastic! It's tuna tonight for Miss Cat!
Might hafta get Clare to make some pumpkin bread or muffins!
Looks VEY professional!
WooHoo!!
Becky looks like a natural!! I like that painted pony!
She just loves it. And I'm glad since I'm always worried that I may be pushing her to do something because ~I~ want to do it.
On the way home today, I asked her if she'd like to go back. She replied " Of course! Are you crazy? I thought you liked horses, Mom!"
I asked if she wanted to go because I liked them or because ~she~ liked them and she said "I like them and I'm glad you let me ride. Nobody else in my class rides horses."
Made me feel good. :-D
I love it. Great pictures! You're such a great mom!
You would not believe what WE did today! I still can't believe it! Basically, and I'll tell you more later...but we crashed a party big-time...accidentally, but nonetheless, we crashed a hugh party!
Had a blast. I'll tell you in bit. Steve's fixin' to go work on his paper and I'll be able to tell you all about it.
Excellent picture of Rosie!! I love it!
*waiting for details on party-crashing adventure*
2J PARTY CRASHER fit nicely in the keywords.
Ok...here's what happened.
Our Volkswagen club had entered in a car show at the Air National Guard. So we thought we'd run up there and see the car show and also get a bit of a look around at the Air National Guard facilities too.
This day started out very good...even before we left the house I heard the familiar thunking that I have grown to love so...and when I dashed outside wave at them, I see right away off in the distance that there are three Black Hawks heading our way. So I holler at Steve to come out and look and they are a long ways off but since there were three, I could hear them quite plainly. We stood in the street and waited for them to fly over and a car of guys stopped and watched with us. It was fantastic.
Anyway, right after that it was time to head for the car show. We got almost to the base and in the process had to drive by the ARNG unit that we toured and there was a Black Hawk practicing it's landing and hovering! We pulled along side the road (along with a few other cars) and watched and waved! They came down so close to us that I could literally see their faces and their gloved hands waving at us. They did it over and over...it was thrilling and I was so tickled.
Well, we still hadn't got to the car show yet and so we took off...but it seemed that the Black Hawk that was practicing decided it wanted to go to the car show too and it followed us all the way!
When we got to the base, the guard stopped us and asked "Do you have a military ID or are you family?" Seemed like an odd question for a car show, but I just said "We're with our Volkswagen club" and he said "OK! Go on in!"
So we had an escort even that took us in! We got a great parking place and started looking around. There were jupiter jumps and such but that was the least of our interest! This wasn't a car show! It was an AIR SHOW and the car show was just part of it! And it was just for the military and their families! It was HUGH!!! There were great big cargo planes and you know the F-16s that fly over my house? They were there and all kinds of antique planes and the guys from my Black Hawk unit were there and I got to just sit around visiting with them! They got a huge kick out of sitting on the side of the road waving at them before the event.
Well, once we figured out that we weren't "really" supposed to be there (only people who had actually entered a car in the car show was supposed to be there) we felt a little awkward...they had all kinds of free stuff they were just handing out and of course we didn't take any of it...the only thing we allowed the boys to do was fire a machine gun of some sort...they had blanks they were letting the kids fire...like five-six shots per try and that was actually before we figured out it wasn't really open to the community.
Once we figured that out, though...we made sure that we just walked around looking at stuff. It was awesome. Then we gave a $5 donation to the Blue Star Mothers for even just letting us do that.
It was a highlight of my life...F-16s would roar right down on top of us! Choppers would land right beside us, the wind from the blades whipping us! It was GREAT!
thank you for the ping!
have not been in a very social mood these last few days...am trying to prepare myself and the family for what he have to do for Gizmo. Took him to the vet yesterday. There is deep pain in his haunches which is a good sign, but his back legs are completely useless, and his chances of improvement after a surgery are down to 10-20%.
talk with y'all soon
How cool is that?!
And I really don't think they mind you crashing their party, chica. ;-)
(((Alkhin)))
Prayers up for you and Gizmo. This is a tough decision.
I'm just glad we figured it out though.
I was wearing my Airborne shirt that the RC gave me and Steve was wearing his "Black Knights" shirt Rick sent to the ShootMoot. It was meant to be a troop support thing...you know? Put on just for the military and their families...like a company picnic from what I could tell.
But NEXT YEAR I'm entering My Precious so I can be in there officially!
Oh my heart's breaking for you sis...
