The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'm gonna hit the couch.... watching storm coverage but I've got to get out of this chair.

Goodnight and stay safe all our Floridians!

Thanks, Corin. I'll call Ruthy in the evening tomorrow, she'll check in with Hair I guess. I have a feeling I won't be posting after tonight for a while.

That's what I'm workin' with... that 62 gr M855 Ball don't fly werthuhdern out'n it... stuff is tumbling at 50 yds... with a 9" group tuh boot... she likes the 50 gr stuff much better...

The 1-in-12 rifling will work well up to 55 grains. After that, the heavier bullets are not spun fast enough, and they yaw. This was the same problem on the original 1-in-14 AR15s that tried to fire 55 grain bullets.

It sounds like you hit on a real winner with just four combinations. There are probably some fine 52 grain boattail match bullets out there, but they'd cost too much just for vaporizing varmints.

Good morning. Grey and rainy here, but only tropical storm type conditions. I'll check in periodically to see if you have heard from the others. Please ping me with any updates.

I'm watching the Weather Channel and it looks like Ruthy and Sam are getting HAMMERED! They're in the North East Quadrant of the storm and that's the worst place to be! I'm praying for them.

Y'all hang in there up in St. Augustine. Looks like the eye will be coming just south of your area!

KC? Yeah we passed through there at least on the way out and back two Humbolt trips back. Just blasted through on the freeway though.
Your going to be there 5 days? How much of that is the test? KC is slightly within range for the Battlecruiser.

According to my monitoring gizmos.... we lost contact with the Miami office (on the north end of the city) about 3:15am this morning. 6:15 local time. That would probably be the power going out, or both AT&T and Covad going down, or all of the above.

[sigh] Looks pretty nasty on the TV.

Hope everybody's OK...

I told her to call in the night if she lost her fence (or her roof) or if she wanted to talk to someone that wasn't in the storm. And she didn't, so, heck.... maybe she's sleepin' right through it. :~D

Do cell phones go out in storms?

If cell towers go down, yes.

She may also have turned it off to conserve the battery when the power went out.
