The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yeah, I read that. They're thinking it would be a snow event for us, and SirKit will be in Portland OR all next week!! AARGH! Good thing Joseph knows how to run the snow-thrower, and my van is AWD! But if it snows heavily, neither one of them will have school anyway, so we could have a fire in the fireplace and watch movies all day! ;o)

It would be odd to have a snowy Halloween, though. We've had rainy ones many times, including that year of "The Perfect Storm", and some pretty chilly ones, but none cold enough to snow.

Do you know anything about Atchison, KS? We're looking at a college there for Clare, and just wondering what the area is like.

Afternoon SuziQ - Been there a few times on business, small town, on the Missouri River about midway between Leavenworth and St. Joe. Got a small old downtown and riverfront. Active historical society that lobbied hard to save their old river bridge. Got a Walmart. :-) Nice little campus to the school there. That's about it. I know one fella that used to work for the city.

Ohhhh! Poor fella!

Is his tetanus up to date? Tell him your nurse friend suggests he get a booster if it's not.

What's the situation, sis? What county do you live in? (Forgive me if that's a moronic question!)

I'm in Miami-Dade County, sis. The tip of the state just before the Keys begin.

Glen went home and he's going to ride the storm out there with his mom. He's refusing to go to the hospital and get a tetanus shot, even though he hasn't had one in years.

But he is saying how much it hurts.

Well of course it hurts! You drove a nail through your foot! *rolls eyes*

We'll see how he feels about getting a booster tomorrow evening, when his foot swells.

You'll want to listen out for the neighborhood of "West Kendall" for me and "Palmetto Bay / Whispering Pines" for Sam Cree and trini.

We live in Miami-Dade county and our addresses say "Miami", but Sam & trini live in the eastern portion and I live in the west. :-D

Still got 1 more load and laundry before that's all done.

I want to fill up the bathtub but I can't for worry that Alyson will jump in there, cast and all!

Hang in there darlin'. Here's hopin' Wilma won't be so bad after all.

I'm at church for rehearsals. Jr. is here from 6:30-8:00 and I'm from 8:00-10:00. Didn't make much sense to drive home and back across the river.

Ohh...my goodness I wish you were all here with me!

I just registered here per instructions from my Blue Cap. (Team leaders wear blue caps with yellow emblem as apposed to the yellow with blue emblem.)

Apparently we have to be under the auspices of this organization to be able to set up a mobile "field" clinic.

So if I end up in Florida, bring Glen over and I'll give him a tetanus shot. (You can just tell him you're coming to visit me! LOL)

Thanks, osage. Another freeper had told me that there was a grain silo in town that was a bit pungent at times. Ick.

I'm hoping she isn't bad either.

I just came back from a nice walk with Alyson in her stroller.

It's cooling down out there and the breeze is picking up. We're supposed to have 55 degree lows tomorrow, so when the AC turns off, it won't be too bad.

I'll definitely do that, sis!

How long does it take after someone steps on a nail for them to become sick?

Yeah, there are actually a couple of different open connections here. There's so much activity in and around the building it just makes sense. Sure helps with those long rehearsal days.

Well, we'll be watching and praying with you. If you lose power, keep in touch with Hair. We'll make sure she and ecurbh don't drink too much and lose contact.

'course that seems to only be a problem with ecurbh.
