We'll talk with Ashley Smith who became a heroine to millions of Americans when she was taken hostage by accused Fulton County Courthouse killer Brian Nichols. Smith tells the story of her life and her harrowing ordeal in her new book "Unlikely Angel: The Untold Story of the Atlanta Hostage Hero."

I note these words particularly:
"You truly had to know where you were going to get to where Ashley Smith lived."
"incredibly suspicious"
"she's looking for money from whoever interviews her -- which also smells VERY fishy."
"The whole thing is very flaky. I have a hard time trusting her."
"I think the "sainted Lady Ashley" is not on the up and up."
I hope that someone from Atlanta asks her some tough questions when she does the paid interviews, and I hope you will post the story here on FR and ping me.
What do you think she's going to say that would be so offensive to you. She didn't ask for this attention. But now that she has it, why shouldn't she cash in if people want to know her story. I'm curious as to why you are so wary of her.
Thank you Atlanta!!!
This story is so "Sealed" by Rick Warren. What a phony he is! He goes on and on on Larry King about how his church does all this work with addicts and how he "knows all about addicts" BLAH. BLAH BLAH! And how addicts need AA or NA or some 12 step group.
Then when St Ashley says," I haven't had time to go to any meetings. I'm so busy with the book."....does Warren confront her? Noooooo. He just looks at St Ashley adoringly. And well, he should....this little cookie just bumped up the sales of his book again!
Oh ..and Mr. Warren, how come your book hasn[t helped you with your Food Addiction???
Honestly, she just doesn't seem believable to me. My gut reaction to every TV appearance I have seen her on since March, she just doesn't pass the smell test. Her recent revelation about the meth just enhanced the 'skepticism' that arouses within me when she appears.
I hope I don't insult anyone by this analogy, but it's like the feeling I got every time Clinton would talk, I just don't believe he was ever forthright about anything, and that is the kind of feeling I get when Ashley comes on the tube.
If someone would ask her clarifying questions in an interview rather than kissing her butt and tossing softballs, I think it would help to confirm her deceit or clear her of any misgivings of mine (or any number of other people).
I said this before and many FReepers flamed me for it, but I got the same reaction to Susan Smith, the psycho who murdered her sons and then lied to the country. I hope I'm just a cynical curmedgeon and Ashley ISN'T a liar, but is just awkward on TV. I am hesitant to think that's the case.
Are you naive or just so enamoured of St Ashley?
After the inital newscast, its not so easy to get attention. You really have to play it up right, and be sure to hook up with those who can help your "getting LOTS of attention ". As Rick Warren said, " I got her an AGENT."
UH, RIGHT. She sure didn't "ask for this attention".
She was and IS BEGGING FOR IT!!
So? She's cashing in..it's the American way. Why on Earth are you so...so...vicious about it?
YOU ARE CRAZY...CRAZY AS A LOON.
Just can't handle the truth, can you???
Some people in the real world are Liars and Manipulators and will do just about anything for another buck....That's Ashley. Would I cash in?...probably. So maybe now you can put away your "life is only black & white " glasses.
You don't even know her...why do you think the worst? That's all I want to know.
OK... did you miss a dosage?
Hildy, you accuse me of being "CRAZY AS A LOON." Well, I'm not the one who posts these kind of things.
By the way, NOT "pretty smart, eh?? :)".
Touche!
Does that mean that you have only formulated an opinion about her behavior because you know her so well? How does a woman in an ivory tower come to be aquainted with trailer trash?
Are we going to fight over this girl too! I wasn't aware she was in an ivory tower. She has a past...she was always up front about that.
I thought Christians were supposed to be loving and forgiving. You'd never know it by this thread.
I was not suggesting that you are trailer trash, and she lives in an ivory tower. It's the other way around. But then, I'm sure you knew what I meant.
Sir, the title of this thread is: "Ashley Smith on Hannity & Colmes - LIVE THREAD". I don't see anywhere that it says "Christian comments on Ashley Smith".
My comments regarding Ashley are in regard to her lack of forthrightness, the fact that what she has portrayed in front of the camera, hasn't really 'jived' with what she is now touting as the real story as she is peddling in her book.
We do live in a free, capitalistic, society (ain't it great?!), and unless she has committed a capital crime, she is entitled to write a book and reap the profits. How she sells that book, however, is a matter of ethics or lack of.
