I'm back from shopping. One of my stops was Pet Smart to see if I could find a pad like the one I borrowed from my friend. They don't make that type anymore, but I they had the Cashel Pads. I had never seen one. That is what I landed up buying and I think it will be more cushy then the one I borrowed. I'm anxious to try it tomorrow.

Did you know there are three types. a wedge, a flat and a reverse wedge? What type do you have? I'm thinking you have the regular wedge, that is what I got.

I have the regular wedge. Fatter in the back than in the front, and I use that with a fuzzy pad.

And it was OK... I am wanting to re-evaluate that, though, before next year's season, to see if the current arrangement is still right for him. I think it's possible that I need to add some pad to the center of the span of the tree, to prevent bridging.

The good news is, now that we have a trailer, we can take him to the saddle shop and have him fitted, instead of the guy having to guess what to bring with him and come out here.
