This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Oh, man, I'm so sorry.
Becky
tuffy, I just caught up and read this. My heart's breaking for ya. :-(
Suppose to be in the 40's today. It will feel like spring!
It's a terrible responsibility, looking after our critters. But you have to make the call if he's suffering too much. He can't understand - he can only suffer.
Prayers for you and for Tuffy.
Let us know what happens tuffy...
It has warmed up here too. And the rain has returned. But I don't mind that it's no longer so bitter cold.. we were in the teens, which is just not enough degrees.
Duchess - any baby this morning or is she waiting till warmer weather :~D
I'm doing some last ditch reading right now. Adam's Lameness In Horses, the definitive book on lameness, isn't giving me much hope.
The oddest thing happened last night. The little yorkie I picked up at the dog pound sleeps in my bed at night. During the night she started howling in her sleep, something she's never done before.
We are heading back to the 60's for the next few days, YEAH:)!!!!!
I'm 100% going to ride tomorrow. Even at a walk I should be able to get Harley to sweat enough under the blanket in an hour or so to see how the saddle fits. Today is Jenny's doctor day again, I'm going with her. She went ahead a quite work Tues night. Just can't do it anymore:), wearing her out to much, she was only scheduled to work another week anyway. Her blood pressure was creeping up too, so I was encouraging her to go ahead and stop work anyway. She hasn't hit critical yet, but it is getting close. I'm glad she's going to the doctor today.
Becky
Keeping you in my thoughts today:)
Becky
Well I certainly feel for you as you wrestle with this.
Yorkie had a bad dream... I wake ours up when they bark in their sleep. I never think it's a good dream.
Good luck with Jenny today - getting close :~D
Rosie found a job already here... starts tomorrow.
Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad for you, Congratulations. Looks like you made the right decision:)
Is it the type of job she wants?
Becky
Thanks, Becky. Let us know how the doctor visit goes.
I think she'd be happy if it was her only offer :~D As soon as she accepted, she got two more calls - now she's juggling 3 choices all at once. I think she'll end up keeping at least one of them :~D
I spent the evening crying in bed with yorkie. She knows something is wrong. I'm going to have to pull myself up by my bootstraps. If it effects a dog that much I can only imagine what it would do to my kids. Right now, my kids only know that Tuffy is sick, they don't know how serious it is.
(((((((((tuffy))))))))
Animals and kids are so tough. It's so hard to know what to tell them. I always was as honest with them as I could be. I think being prepared for the worse makes the worse easier to handle when it comes. My daughter had to put her dog down this weekend. Of course he was the favorite of the two they have even tho he was just a mutt. Blake was at his mothers so he didn't know about it till he came home Mon. evening. I picked him up off the bus Tues and he told me the dog had died, and even tho I'm sure Jenny and Travis explained everything to him, he still asked me why it happened....It's just so hard.
Becky
Wow:) Well, she deserves it, as hard as she was trying in Colorado. It's always so good to see someone making it:)
Becky
Boy that sounds great! When it rains it pours, but it sure is nice to have so many choices. Didn't the same thing recently happen to someone else on HH?
Hang in there, hopefully today will be better.
Has Tuffy ever had a neurectomy?
