This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Yes, I remember something about Vegas. I wish I could go but things just didn't work out this time. Take Mom with you, she needs to visit our Aunt.
You better enjoy it while you can Ruthy coz you're gonna be freezing your butt off when you move to WA! ;o)
You got that right, chica!

I forgot to tell y'all yesterday, but I discovered that somebody stole my $90 hoof nippers at the clinic on Sunday. I had brought my own hoof jack and tools to work with on Sunday and was letting the others use them too and didn't notice that the nippers weren't there until I unloaded the trailer on Monday night and boy was I pissed! I e-mailed the girl who was sponsoring the clinic to see if somebody had turned them in, thinking that maybe somebody was just using them and forgot to put them back until after I had left, but she said that nobody turned them in and they didn't find them when the were cleaning up on Sunday night. So I guess I can just mark it up to a very expensive lesson learned. Nobody uses my stuff anymore unless I'm standing there watching them. >:-/
Oh, and one more thing, the girl just e-mailed me again and said that several horses at the barn where the clinic was held had come down with high fevers on Sunday night and that their vet had said that it was probably a viral thing and for her to notify all the people who brought horses to the clinic and tell them to check their horses for fever after 5 days, and to not take them anywhere, that it would probably manifest itself as 10 days of up and down fevers. So that just adds insult to injury!
Oh - bummer about the nippers! And I sure hope your horses don't get sick. Keep us posted.
I got a week off. That sure is a long time to be away from home though.
I don't just buy this people picking stuff up thinking it is theirs. I would be mad too. I hope your horses do ok. I don't let people borrow my stuff anymore either since they can't seem to ask. I got really p/o awhile back. I took my briddle down and was thinking I really wasn't taking care of my stuff. It was dark, dirty and had dried horse slobber on the bit. I got to looking and it wasn't mine. I tie my reins and went looking and found mine hanging with someone elses stuff. It had even been untied. I gathered up my toys and they are in the garage or my trunk now.
We're in a cold snap now too... and they're talking a possibility of snow, but today it was clear and cold, which beats rain.
Tomorrow we'll be busy cleanin' up Rosie's place. Finally get to start, the handyman dude should be done.
Bummer:(
Becky
Well, I'm happy things are moving along for her:)
Becky
Good Morning.

Very warm, windy and humid here this morning. We are suppose to have a cold front move in tonight put us back down into winter weather:(.
Becky
We're gonna have a pretty severe cold tonight.... into the teens. [shivers]
At least it's not raining :~D
Becky
Oh oh.... horse down ;~D
LOL, I've noticed him down like this the last few morning, the first time I walked out and he sat up, so I know he's just taking it easy. It kind of scares me when I see one like this if it's a new thing.
Becky
He hasn't laid down often before? Ours do... Cyn especially. She's the nappinest horse we ever seen :~D
