The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

But what does your vet do with dog noogies then, feed them to the cats?
(Just a thought) Albeit a gross one...

I will tell the tale of the wild ride on a horse with a loose saddle and her spectacular award winning "dis-mount." Heh!

Oh I think that you have to tell it now! :-) Inquiring minds want to know!

If she will join, I would rather she tell it in her own words. She is an old friend and we met while renting stalls at a stable. She had just bought a horse and wanted to go for a ride on it. I had already been out on a ride and rode up right after it happened. All I saw was our redhead friend trying to walk and get her breath back while being supported by two people. I asked her what did I miss and all I got was a look with daggers in them......... : )

Oh no the poor thing! Well if it makes her feel any better, tell her that I once fell off a horse while it was standing still. (No... make that twice)

So have I and the cause was ... you guessed it, a loose saddle girth. : )

You know, I never thought to ask, but I'm sure it's not as efficient as what he does with the horse noogies.

No, I haven't heard from her. You'll probably have to nag her for a year or two like you did me before she'll sign up.

LOL! Do you remember the night of the Christmas Parade that we were going to ride our horses through the front door of the redhead's business office? The truth is that if the door had been open ... my horse would have went inside. : )

You're lucky that redheaded temper didn't smack you into next week! If she could've got her breath, I'm sure she would've. Coz I'm sure you laughed like a donkey.

Yes I do. I don't know what you would've done once you got in there, but there probably would've been police involved. I would've laughed like a donkey then.

Oh, and I want to stress the point that YOU were going to ride through the door of her business, NOT ME! I was gonna watch and take pictures for America's Funniest Videos.

I didn't laugh like a donkey but I did ask her if she would do it again so I could see what happened.

You could really see the daggers in her eyes then...... : )

I picked up a new copy of Lehman's Non-Electric catalog this morning where I bought the saddle soap. It has almost anything for living off the grid. It is mainly for Amish families though.

Yeah, yeah, yeah...right after leaving a steaming pile right in the middle of the floor. She would've really been mad then.

Oh yes, I can see where that was better. ;o)

The Lehman's catalog is pretty cool, from a purely philosophical point of view. I don't want no part of no hand operated appliances. I'll keep my electric ones, thankyouverymuch!

Hello everyone. Don't have time to get o this thread much but I always check in.

Frog, what does your vet say about Granulex? Mine said it should only be used when flesh was lost in big chunks to build up scar tissue and kind of "fill in a hole". I thought it got rid of proud flesh. So I dunno.

The wound looks good. Clean edges, good tissue formation. Congrats!
