The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

We have DVR for cable now... and it is cool.

Dish doesn't work very well here. People who have Dish here only get it if they really can't get cable. This far north you really have to point them at the horizon, and there's often too many trees or hills to get a good line of sight to the horizon... And I hear, it doesn't work well in bad weather, which is often here...

I got a 'thank you and we're taking your request into consideration' response from Comcast.

I have DISH and a DVR. But, we don't have reception problems.

Well, got to go to class now! This has been fun.

It's our latitude that's the problem :~D

"Now that we have gotten rid of the tree huggers, let's get on with it!"

ROFLOL, Good for him. I love it. The sad part is those people need it the worst.

I am sure you know someone who calls their horse sweetie, feeds it treats all the time, gets pushed around by the horse all the time, and then excuses the behavior, but also is always saying that they just can't understand why their horse doesn't a. walk quietly beside them on the lead, or b. won't load in a trailer sometimes, or c. decides to tank off and take a tour of the property, or d. pushes them around, or e. bites/kicks them

UUUHHHHH, Yep. Drives me insane too!

He did a bit of imitateing those types last night too.

Oh well, you're right. When we got heavy rain, we loose TV. I hadn't thought of that.

Well keep pushing for your server to get RFD. Or at least see if you can rent some of this guys videos. The more I hear of him the better I like him.

Our tack shop has a free library of training videos you can check out... I'll see if they've got him. I've never really taken advantage of that... they have a lot of videos.

Yeah, the tack store that use to be in Bixby, (they just moved last fall), rented videos of differnt trainers. You really should watch this guy. I can't say how impressed I was with him:). I set my DVR to catch him every week.

OK - I've never had a cat do ~this~ before... Every time I open the refrigerator, Pippin has taken to jumping inside.

If he does that sometime and we don't notice, it'd be a really bad scene.

~shudder~

Jake, I want to thank you for introducing me to this breed. They really look amazing. Sounds like they have all the things I love in the Arabians and then some. I'm going to look into them more. Henkell looks like a doll. You can see it in his eyes. :) The TB is looking at you like, Where's my grub? Henkell is like asking you nicely, if you're possibly confused about your priorities here in the am?

I just adore Arabs. (It's too bad their human counterparts appear to have none of the same attributes but I digress.) Who knows maybe someday my mare will be bred to a big ole' Trakehner cremello. That cross might be very interesting down here. They like the more muscular horses, Arabs are a bit delicate for our cowboys.

Great photos, thanks again.

By the way, I found that cremello purely by accident when I was posting a horse for sale for a friend. I just saw his picture, clicked on it and sure enough it was a Trackhner. I was like, whoa! Where have I heard of that breed........?

Cat Burglar sure is pretty. He reminds me of a Dalmation. I'll bet he'll be really stunning when he grows up.

LOL:)

I had a friend who had a chow that opened her fridge herself, and help herself to what ever. I don't remember how they did it but they had to lock it somehow. One time it was inadvertantly left unlocked, and the dog had a batch of pups, two pups got stuck inside:). Luckily they were rescused before they crocked but it was getting critical.

No current pics but I'll try to take some. Good day for it, it's overcast.

Hey, doesn't someone in the saddle club live in Massachusetts? I'm trying to find some information on a fatal car accident there and I'm coming up with zilch.

Good grief, I wonder if I'd hear him inside...

He does the same thing with the dryer.

I've found my cat in the dryer. It's warm there:)

It's probably just being a kitten. If you think it might presist and you're really worried, or if it's a real annoyance. I'd try shutting him in there on purpose and time it for awhile. Maybe it would teach him it's not a place he likes being, then you wouldn't have to worry about it happening on accident. But I'd think you'd notice a cat in there:)

Good morning,
Yes you can give it in one site, but it's thick, not pleasant for horses. We bring the meds in the syringe up to room temp at least before administering it.

It's just giving me a phobia that I wouldn't hear him in there. I don't know if he's strong enough to push the door.

I'm taking offensive action now (after snapping the pictures of course) when he comes near the fridge ;~D

Ah, she looks good with a green eye.

The pictures I posted of the sick horse and mule were just some I found on the internet - don't know who they are.

Good morning,
Yes - that's Speed in the picture with him, she is a bay, as a matter of fact, a splitting image of her sire's dam. All those spots in her background too :)

Yes, I think once Cat Burglar gets some groceries in him - he has been only fed grass hay since weaning - he'll be a looker. And so far, seems he's got a decent personality.
