This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

You scored as Trail/Pleasure. You are a trail and/or pleasure horse. You don't neccesarily like the structure of shows, but love to be outside in the woods or just going around the ring in a pleasure ride. You are very relaxed and pretty much nothing scares you. You are the horse that is chosen when people just want a break from the difficulties in life.

I vaccinate for Strangles every year. If it helps, it helps, and if it don't, then you aren't any worse off than you were without it. I'd rather err on the side of caution.
I dunno. - Heh... I just did it again and got trail again saying no on the jumping, and middle of the road on many of the other questions, big on outdoors and relaxed...

I think my mind set is always whenever I ride or think about riding I ride like I'm at a CTR and being judged.

I think that's what's throwing you into a different category then... trail/pleasure means relaxing, not competing, for most folk.

Well it's not warming up as fast as I had hoped it would, but my horse is saddled, and I'm off for awhile. Have a nice afternoon.

Hey - we have sun here!
I'm getting ready to go exchange that hay, and by the time I get back I thought it'd be warm enough to take blankets off horses and let them play naked on the grass for awhile.
WOO HOO! Better put your sunglasses on or you'll go blind! Your eyes won't know what that big bright light IS.
I'll bet the first thing the horses do after they get their blankets off is roll in the mud.
I'm sure they will ;~D
That's why I don't take them off unless it's a remarkably nice day and it's really worth it :~D
