This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Speaking of her talents... I better head out and strip her stall. I want it to air out a bit before putting them in tonight. I'm thinking of just pouring her water bucket into her stall every night and skipping the part about her having to drink it first. It'd certainly smell better. What do you think?
It'd save her the trouble too. ;o)
What IS it about mares and peeing inside? Every one of mine feels like it's their obligation to pee in the barn if they're in there any amount of time at all. The geldings NEVER do.
Thanks. : )
Rescued donkeys in Israel (many pictures in the Gallery):

Yeah, I have that problem sometimes when I get behind on the thread. I'll be catching up and reading 200 posts back and want to respond to something they've said but know that they've left that conversation a long time ago. But we're glad you decided to jump on in now. Sometimes we get a little slow in the afternoon, but there's usually SOMEBODY lurking around on here.
Donkey's are so cute! I'm glad these guys got a better life. Thanks for the link.
Those stories break my heart.... so glad they are there to help a few... especially the old ones that have worked so hard.
What a bunch of cute little donkeys!!! I saw some there that I wish I could bring home! Thanks for the link!
This is just a working theory, but I think it's because if they pee in soft bedding, it doesn't splash on their legs so much as when they do it outside on hard ground. Guys don't worry about that so much because of their geography, it doesn't splash so much.
Well - you just made my day. :) Thanks for the picture.
I'll send you some updates for the Who's who this evening if I get the chance. Mostly additions I suppose :)
Cool picture of the mule.
Make sure you include some of those babies we haven't seen for awhile.
Checking in on the new thread. :-D
I'll be sure to include the kids :) Josey looks just like her dad right now (the one that was greying)
Hey, thanks!
That was taken by my cousin. I must admit she got a good pic. (Blush) Quite flattered.
Yes, those ag pilots are crazy. Same fall smell here in south Texas --- the cotton is just coming in. You can also see the huge 'loaves' --- must weight 40 tons (guessing) ready to be picked up and scrap cotton all along the roadsides.
I looks like it belongs on the cover of Western Horseman! It's a great picture! I aspire to take that picture!
My Miss Accident-Prone used to be in a mare's pasture with about 10 other mares and a big round bale. She would stand in the middle of all the hay pulled down and pee in int and then lay down and go to sleep in it.
Gak.
