This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Well, ok but where did the other 3 inches go?
You tell me. She said I was the taller of the two of us. =)
He was rounded but I didn't think he was that big a horse, did you? He was shorter than the one I was riding wasn't he? I could see over that one easy.
Well, that's fun. And fun to get to do with Reba. I think it's great to get as many varied experiences as you can. There's no one person who's got all the answers, and going to this lady once in awhile sounds like a good thing. Especially if you can eventually bring your own horses there.
Do I gather that this is a teacher that specializes in teaching women, so no Eddie at these clinics? just the wimmin-folk?
Window shopped. I'll buy Friday when I get paid I guess. I feel like I'm going to the dennist though. She asked me what I needed and I told her fitness and she got all excited. Started talking about that evil ball. I'll do a lot of stuff but I will not go to a pilate class again. I was sore for a week the last time.
Eddie? Lessons? Oh, Please! lol. She works with guys too but specializes in women's training. Maybe,Reba working on her honey, though:')
Heh... Oh - Eddie don't ~do~ lessons... I see :~D
Here you gohttp://www.postoakfarm.com/Clinics.htm
He was round. I thought he was taller.
Huh?
That looks good.... you can cover a lot of ground in three days straight like that.
Lol, sure.
Did the gold fish survive the move. Did she wait 24 hours like I told her to?
I'm fixing to go to bed but I wanted to share something with you that I saw at the fair. Have your little boy put his hand in fingerpaint and make a print. Turn it upside down. The thumb becomes the horses head and he can draw on a mane and tail:')
Good Morning....company coming from main office, will catch up later.
Enjoyed reading your post and it sounds like you had a great time.
Thanks for the information on your foundered horse.
mornin
I clicked the website, it looks great. I liked this part and would be interested in it myself. Be sure to let us know all the details when you do it.
What is Horsemanship? Your #1 priority is to stay safe, both in the saddle and on the ground. Your #1 goal is to have fun with your horse while achieving your riding objectives. Horsemanship is the art of knowing what, when and how to apply riding, training and handling techniques during each and every session with your horse to achieve both your priorities and your goals. Each rider has the opportunity to set goals and work on specific skills.
Horsemanship Workshops involve the following elements:
understanding your horse
teaching your horse respect
dealing effectively with bad behaviors
safety on the ground and in the saddle
trailer loading, handling, haltering, tying, leading
teaching ground manners
how to longe your horse
bits and bitting
saddle fitting
recognizing lameness
shoes and shoeing
round pen work
riding safely over trail obstacles
riding patterns
lateral movements
turns and spins
I've never seen a clinic that goes over this stuff.
Becky
I was only picking on you. I thought that was his name at first.
They were alive when I left and in the tank. She bought 7 day feeders and went to Whitney.
