The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Oh wow Sharn! Congratulations on the farm! Y'all have looked for so long, I'll bet y'all are excited to death. Virginia is a beautiful state too. What area will you be living in?
It is near the TN and NC border. Very pretty. I'll post a lot more when the place is ready and we are there. The person that came to see our house today showed a lot of interest, and is specific in his needs. We are propbably the only house around here that fits them, so we are very hopeful. Lots of praying going on!

Thanks... Me too! :) We finally found new columns for the front porch. they are 19 feet high so we had to get a contractor in to take out the temporary ones and put in these. They are fluted and make a huge difference!

BTW we WILL be getting a hot tub for the new place! LOL

It drizzled Monday but that's about it. I'm having to spray the horses and keep the doors closed to keep down flies. In Jan.!

I watched them jack up a roof to change some columns on an old house on a remodeling show. It was a job.

Good Morning

Sunny, going to hit it mid to high 50's today! If the ground was not so soft, I would go for a ride. There is water laying in the pasture, so I know the woods would be way too mushy. Before they paved half the old rail road bed, it was a good place to ride in wet conditions. The base was fine cinders. Horses are allowed on the side, but that is dirt now. Only thing is, I would have to ride along the road to get there for about a 1/4 mile. Before there was so much development it was safe, not now.

Good morning.

We're supposes to be in the 60's again today, but it's more windy today then it was yesterday:(. We got just enough rain/snow Tues, to barely wet the ground, so I'd say, especially today if the wind continues, we're still at high risk for fires.

I'm riding today with Julia. I'm rather anxious to see if she is still intent on selling that horse.

As long as I have a hat, and it's not cold rain, I'd take anytime:). I don't like rain hitting my head.

I've been hunting and hunting for one of those rain hats, like the kind you use to see when I was a kid. They came with the yellow slickers. I don't like hoods hooked to the back of my coat. So far I haven't been able to find one. I thought for sure I'd find one at that Bass Pro shop last weekend, but no luck.

That seems strange, no rain hats at Bass Pro. This what you want?

Well the wide brim on that one would be good I'd think, at slow speeds anyway :~D

Hit the home button on the link, and it will take you to more choices. Smaller brims, and different colors. There pretty cool, because they fold. That would be great for saddle bags.

LOL, as soon as I hit that post to you I thought about googling my self and found exactly what I want. It's on the order of the one Hair posted, I'm trying to decide what size now????

http://www.fcsurplus.ca/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=732

I have a big head:), but I'm afraid if I order what I'm measureing it will be too big. You all measure your heads, and then see what you would order. I'm measureing 22 1/2 inches and that's bigger then the XL. LOL, Macks always teased my about my hat size, I can actually wear his hats.

I have to say I'm surprised they're that hard to find in a store there in town.

I've been looking for 2 years, and haven't found one yet. All the stores have rain suits. I wouldn't mind having a good rain coat, but I don't want a hood on it, and I don't want the pants.
