This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Cindy doesn't eat them. I knew something was wrong with Charlie though when I brought him home. The garage door was open but he couldn't figure out to go around. He sat there and cried and kept trying to go under the bottom of it.
I was going to type a very long reply but thought I would see if I could find a website that would help instead, as I have someone coming to see the house tommorowand need to make sure it is shipshape.

BTW, We now have a farm in Virginia. It has 40 acres and is nestled in the mountains! :)
Virginia! I've been there, it's a lovely place. Well, that's a little bit closer to MA anyway. Howdy neighbor! ;-) How have the kids settled in? Did you bring your horses with you? Or rather, are you there yet?
LOL Howdy neighbor! We just got back from there. The kids had a blast sledging and snowball fights.
We will be moving in as soon as the house is finished.
Exciting stuff! :D
Congratulations on the farm!:)
And thanks for the link. It was just what I needed to know:)

:')
At one time or another I've started just about everything in the house by seed. It really depends on the plant and the light available. And some plants do not like to be transplanted at all so they have to be started in peat pots that they can stay in.
Congratulations on your new home - anxious for pictures and details. Good luck on the showing tomorrow.
Congratulations on finding the new place, hope your house sells quickly now and we look forward to pics of the new place!
I just got back from my walk this morning. A coyote was coming out on to the trail I walk not more then 10 ft. from me. We scared each other good:).
Well, our weather is suppose to warm up nicely this afternoon, and tomorrow. I hope to ride both days. I don't think the bit or rain and snow we got yesterday, has help much:(.
Becky
Varmit! Glad the dogs didn't tangle with him.
I didn't walk yesterday (Have I mentioned it's really wet here?) but I got a good aerobic workout stripping pony's stall down.
Today I'm gonna work on my drainage some. If I could dig a better ditch, I could send you some the water :~D
We're having some local river flooding around, I've thought about going out finding it and photographing some flooded pastures and roads... but it's supposed to keep staying like this and maybe we can go on Sat.
Oh wow Sharn! Congratulations on the farm! Y'all have looked for so long, I'll bet y'all are excited to death. Virginia is a beautiful state too. What area will you be living in?
I don't think the dogs ever saw it. It took off real fast. Grizzly was checking out something behind me, but he came running up and you could tell he got the scent of it and started growling and his hair raised up. He found the spot where the coyote came out of the woods and stood there looking off in the direction it headed. When he started growling Susie tucked her tail and took off for home, and Nikki who was walking beside me looked around like "What?" :)

I think I heard on the news yesterday that the Seattle area had broken the record for the number of consecutive days of rain. I think the old record was 23 days, set back in the 50s. I just don't think I could handle that. I'd go crazy.
I might be getting close!
I think the dogs are more likely to cause a tangle where there wouldn't have been one. Careful with Grizzly and the little one out there Becky! Grizzly looks tough but coyotes kill for a living :~\
Congrats on the new place, Sharn. It must be in a higher elevation to have snow still. Ours all melted before Christmas, and we haven't had any on the ground to speak up since. That's a good thing!
I was very glad it was gone before Grizzly saw it. I think he could be a problem, start something, by way of protecting me. I've seen him so that before with other dogs when I'm riding. He won't let them get close to me. I saw him tangle with a coyote one time when it came to close to the barn. He was getting beat, but it ran off when I went out and hollered. But it was that huge coyote that I talked about here last year. The one I saw today, was just average size. About the same as Grizzly. I still don't want him getting into a fight with one, especially with me and the other dogs around.
Becky
Yeah - It'd be a bad scene, and the other dogs would probably run and get involved in it.
