The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Good Morning. Aw, the little monsters are getting so much bigger. I was hoping for some pictures. My "barn cats" have been in the garage since it was so cold. The barn is not that cold, but I still felt sorry for them.

I screwed up and didn't send my ping list home. The new hard drive is in, and I have not gotten my email going either. :( I am on vacation today and all of next week, so would you ping in mornings? What a pain to get everything back you once had.

Good morning:)

I'm feeling happy this morning. At Christmas when everyone was here, I had set the computer to run a slideshow of all my pictures I've taken. But they were only the ones I had taken since we got the new computer last winter. I didn't know how to move the pictures from the old site to my personal file here. There were alot of pictures there that I really wanted in my photo library here so that when I ran the slide show they would all be in one place. I'm so computer illiterate that I figured it couldn'te be done, and never even mentioned it to Mack. He could have done it if he had known.

Anyway Charlie came over last night to get some of the pictures I've taken that he saw at Christmas. He was really fasinated by my slide show:). I showed him the others too, and he showed me how (it was real easy) to move them to here. Now all my pictures are in one place. They are pictures like way back when JP was born, and his first birthday. So you can see why I wanted them in my personal file.

Well sorry for the babble, but it really made my day to know I've got that done. And now, I really need to go feed. I've been so busy getting that done, that I haven't gotten anything else done today yet.

Becky

Ah - well good! It's always good to have precious stuff like that saved in a couple different places too.

I haven't fed either yet, but you've got two hours on me :~D

Yeah, I know the horses are standing out there staring up at the house:)

Mack is going to burn them to a disc today. And do it every so often so I don't loose any of them. I've got like 781. Some day I want to get a printer. I wouldn't print all of them, but once in a while I get one I'd like to put in a frame.

I also found it rather interesting to see the pictures Charlie took. It's funny how someone you think you know compeltely will pick out from something like that. A few of the pictures he really liked surprised me. I'd say it was because it was things he grew up with, and I just didn't think about it like that. He picked alot of the pictures of the trails out here. And he also took alot of the ones of Rusty and Harley playing. He hasn't lived here since I got them, so it's not sentiment, he just liked the pictures.

You did take some pretty cool pictures of them playing :~D

I'd like to do more with the pictures I have... Some of them could be on the wall behind the saddle racks, riding pictures, horses playing pictures... I've got a plan to empty the house and paint in here this spring, then I'd like to print up some pictures for the walls :~D

When I really did some house cleaning last fall I took down all those awards I had won at CTR's in my hallway. I want to fill it up with family pictures now. When we get to the redecorating in the living room we are planning, all the family pictures I have in there I'm going to put in the hallway and I want to do somekind of matching decorating in there. It's funny when I tell eveyone what I want to do in there they are surprised, because it's nothing to do with horses and/or western. To tell the truth, I'm a bit tired of that motif. I want to go more floral/garden, but I'm not sure Mack is going to go with that:). We'll have to cross that bridge when we get there. But I definitly want to move the family photos to the hallway.

I guess if I had a motif, it would be "outdoors, fishing and hunting and nature" - I've got the bear skin on the wall that kindof dominates the room, and I have some of these great big prints of "Streams" "Wetlands" and "Estuaries" actually printed by the Dept of Ecology and they identify all the native species here. I also have some really old prints of bird dogs and hunters. I like the theme of the outdoors and nature, and I think the horse and trail pictures, particularly the trail pictures, as well as all the landscape photos ecurbh has taken, would fit nicely into that.

The thing that's always set me back is how expensive it is to mat and frame things, but I'd like to actually spend the money to do the big prints right. They really are nice limited editions and I've got them on the wall with thumbtacks.

Nothing special. Jobs around the house that never seem to get done. Early start on spring cleaning. My truck needs to go into the shop for a recall on the brakes, so now is a good time to do that too. Today I am working on getting this PC back to all the things I had before. Finally got my email going. That took a call to my ISP. Just a pw change.

Becky, that's so cool about your pictures. I am sick I lost a lot of mine. Still have to check Snapfish and see what is over there. Computers are pretty much fool proof. I find the help, well, a big help! As long as you don't mess with all the internal stuff, and really do it in. That's best left to the experts.

It turns out Pippin is not a she-type cat after all

Well! I always thought Pippin was a he-cat name anyways, so it worked out well in the end. What about the other one?

It also explains some of his recent behaviors that didn't look exactly like playing to me :~D

The white one remains a "she". :~D

Hey, the last funeral visitation service I went to had something almost exactly like that. They had a slide show projected on a screen on the wall on the opposite end of the room from the casket and it had all these pictures of all the things in the deceased's life that they (or their family) thought were important or personified that person. It was really cool. I'd like something like that too. I reckon it was a service provided by the funeral home because it was really professionally done and quite nice.

How wonderful, an appaloosa!
Yup. I love him! He is great.
If grandpa looks anything like this then I am sure his "horsenaltiy" is even better.
Yes he has a wonderful horsenality. When you steer him it is like pushing a button, because he is very obedient. I am glad he doesn't try to take advantage of his hackamore or the fact that I am only a kid(we should all be thankful for that!). Unfotunately, He has a weakness that I have noticed: He gets the urge to ROLL in the water! While we are trailriding and we let them drink in the lake, we never let him into the water over his fetlocks.
Duchess and I are the resident Appaloosa lovers around here.
hm. Can I be a resident appaloosa lover too??? ;-)

You sure can. A lot of people hate them. Jug heads, sparse manes and tails, but there are ugly in all breeds. I am not prejudice to anyone's choice of horse. That's what makes the world go around. Different strokes for folks.
