The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Yep, got 2 due in April and May I think. I'd have to look at my calendar to be sure. I think I waited a month to breed Truly back when Ellie was born in April because I didn't want a March baby. The weather's still too unpredictable here then. We have been known to have cold spells in April, but not very often.

I took Cindydawg outside with me to clean out the car. She took off. "HEY", just made her slow. "GET BACK HERE" got a look back. Me coming after her got a run. She's been acting up lately. I guess she thinks with age comes stubborness. That's ok. She locked up in the bird cage (my front porsh) now and shes gonna stay there awhile until I decide to let her back in the house. Stupid dog. She would be tamales in no time if she got picked up.

Hey, we all get a little "independent" in our old age. She probably figures she's due a little liberty, even though it ain't good for her. Tennessee did that to me one time. I've always been able to just drop his lead outside the gate and he would just stand there and graze, but this one time he took off for the road, I don't know why. Just a wild hair up his butt I guess. He was just ambling along with the lead dragging, just far enough away to be out of reach, and wouldn't stop. I had Blade in the other hand and couldn't leave him or stop to tie him, so we're all three out in the middle of a 4-lane highway blocking traffic. Goofy horse! He's lucky he wasn't road pizza for some 18-wheeler. No more liberty for him! His lead is in my hand or he's in the fence. Senior moments I guess.

Your a better person than me. After two houses she went thru a fence into someones back yard. I wasn't going in there after her. Best way I know to get dog bit. I just went back to the car. A couple of minutes later here she came with her head down all whiny because I wasn't pleased with her. She's never done this before that I can remember. If she wasn't so old I would think she found a quicky back there. She sure was mellow when she got back.

I don't blame you then. I'd be afraid of getting bit too.

...The Bird Cage...

LOL! Sounds like the Solitary Confinement Cell at some place like Sing Sing Prison.

I really am going now... ;o)

Well, she may, or may not, appreciate another companion... Older females in particular, in my experience, find little joy in annoying pups :~D

But they may keep her occupied anyway :~D

Yeah that's why I haven't yet. I don't want an energetic , growing puppy hurting her. I though about an older one but two cranky old ladies is not a pleasant thought either.

I really don't know what's wrong with her. She laid down on a rug in the dining room and I went to lay down. I started hearing this noise and thought someone was in the house. She was standing on my rug pawing it. She doesn't tear stuff up. Strange. I put her out in the back yard. She's very ancy for some reason.

Mine do that sometimes... they're nesting, trying to make it softer. She's trying to get comfortable.

You know it may be the weather. I heard this morning that we have a cold front coming in. I put her a blanket on the rug and gave her a happy pill.

Oh my gosh. Thanks, I had no idea you could get that stuff. I figured it was such an inexpensive set of dishes, they just didn't make it. I don't have the mugs either, just the regular cups and saucers.

I'll have to show this to my family:)
